Were the "Last Time Played" and "Total Play Time" good ideas?

I feel like all stats do is trigger OCD. That's why I hate them. I hate when games track my time. I hate when they track how many times I've died. I hate when they track how horrible my accuracy has been. I just hate all of it.

I like knowing how much fo my games I've played. Even if looking back on it I regret the 1750 hours I spent in Destiny 1, it saved mee a bunch of money. and I don't regret my 1800+ in splatoon 3.

I first saw them included in JRPGs and I questioned is it put there to show you how much of your life you wasted like how much they mock you by wasting your life with BS random encounters and long combats because I know some developers are that sick fuck to enjoy inflicting pain in players, they enjoy more when they have masochist fan base playing their stupid games like suckers. Whatever their intention may be it's useful for me to plan how my other playthroughs will go and if I enjoy speed running a game it is extra useful.

However this topic leads to something bothers me: Sometimes a game only counts play time in context of only gameplay by exluding cutscenes and shit, then it actually defeats the purpose of the play time count for me for ruining the aforementioned usefulness. While it makes sense and it's useful in its own context I would ask for "gameplay play time" and "overall play time" to be separated to be more informative.
