Weird music

Thinking about Chrono Trigger reminded me of this album.
Why? Because the 9th track's name is "The Planet That Once Used To Absorb Flesh In Order To Achieve Divinity And Immortality (Suffocated To The Flesh That It Desired…)"
If you've played the game I think you may see the resemblance.
Kinda funny how unrelated music brings to mind other stuff.
This album is another off-kilter death metal release from 1993. The guitarist/vocalist is a 15 dimensional Lovecraftian creature who manifested on planet Earth in 1974 as a Finnish gentleman named Antti Boman.
In all seriousness though, I'm happy they got together again, hopefully some new material someday. Now for Necrophagist...

My ex introduced me to this band a long time ago. They... certainly make music. x) Even though the song is rather loud and the lyrics incomprehensible for the most part, I still really like it.

I don't remember how the hell I came across this, but I've liked it for awhile now. They have other good stuff too.

Magma's pretty influential. They spawned an entire subgenre of martial jazzy rock with gibberish lyrics.
With zeuhl finally brought up, I can post this...

another band which i would call to my favourites will alway be Hanni Kohl:

rough shit

the only metal that Boris really does is drone metal every here n there, but I love them as I do most avant-garde stuff...
They also do a lot of sludge and stoner though and their crust punk album kicked ass too. Wonderfully unique band, I wish they’d come by more often.

Japan‘s music scene has some of the most creative people I’ve ever met. It’s a good source for weirdness.
Boredoms are always a good bet.

Oorutaichi is just wonderful

All of Tatsuya Yoshida‘s bands come highly recommended. I saw him play with Zu last year and it was mindblowing.

Melt-Banana are more straightforward but totally unique. Probably the best live band I’ve ever seen along with Swans and Einstürzende Neubauten.

Cardiacs. Not from Japan but not to be missed either. I feel like Mr bungle took a lot of pages out of their book in the beginning.

I often have a hard time gauging what is considered weird. I’m a pretty big music nerd with a voracious appetite and have been making experimental music, drone, noise and ambient for the last 15 years so I think I’m probably a bit desensitized

I think this is the only "weird" music I listen.

Sigh is one of my fav bands ever. Mirai looked me right in the eyes for a couple secs in the only time I was blessed to see them live. I have such a loud voice my 90's band during practice - the wireless mic stopped working from low battery so I just sang/screamed without a mic, n my voice could be heard clearly even above my drummer goin off on the kit \m/ these houses here have thin walls n ppl walkin their dogs outside probably hear me talkin on the phone or wutevR with the windows closed n everything all the way from the sidewalk. double-edged sword as one could guess.

I know the feeling. hard to tell if your stuff is accessible or bit too left-ov-centre no matter how much feedback you get from entirely different ppl. I just followed 2 ppl from this thread who said they make weird/avant-garde music cuz that is almost immediately obvious to anyone who hears my music that tryin different songs from me might be buyin a soft-ticket to a wilder ride than they perhaps would be prepared for. like I say with a lot of ridiculous angles in my life - 'for better or worse. or worst'

fuck yea Yamatsuka Eye! Pop Tatari got a lot of play from me in the mid-90's. did you hear Melt-Banana's new one that came out late last year (3 + 5) ? n do you also like The Gerogerigegege? lezz go back in time n hit up one of their vulgar ass shows >=D lawL

Sure, I've come across some unusual stuff on my metal journeys.

I probably have some more buried deep in my archives. It's not really stuff I listen to on a daily basis but every once in a while when the mood strikes me.

I just *now* noticed you had Oxiplegatz there (!!!!!!) r e s p e k t

I was about to post this gem too but you can only have five YouTube links per post apparently:

Speaking of Yamantaka Eye:
Oddly enough Naked City music shows up a few times in 90s Sega commercials.

And yeah I love the new melt-banana. I missed their shows in Japan last year due to scheduling conflicts but they already played a couple of the new songs on their last European tour and they’re totally next level live.

Anyone else into Steve Reich?

I’m posting this Locust song because it’s on my bucket list of songs to learn on the drums this year along with honey bucket by the melvins and the fast double bass drum pattern in tool‘s schism that I haven’t figured out yet.

The Locust nice. the Dead Cross albums are OK too, with the 2nd one a bit more potent perhaps. poor Mike sounds like he can barely keep up at times though, but he was always ridiculous with his standards for his own stuff up until about at *least* '06 so at least it's more 'dumb fun' for him these days maybe. always nice to hear Dave on the kit, more or less as well. I think if I were pickin up the stix n overcoming my brain's issue with hands/feet separate syncopation then I would practice almost anything Crover has laid down on almost any Melvins record. xD m o m b i u s h i b a c h i in particular

As a terminally ill online gen z, I'm heavily LEAN at my game.
DJ megen23 is one of my pioneers of sampling remix which primarily experiments pre made like this and kinda gives the optimistical vibe that came from the videogame tracks. Is not STEALING someone else songs or anything. that's why it looks familiar and it is how presented to be on SoundCloud producers. Even Yabujin guy who also took all every samples of VN games ost then turned it into an ethereal wide range of unhinged aesthetic.
Yeah definitely this ain't gets old.

Btw there's one particular obscure game that rgt haven't known for. A Dango Console for the Sexdick, a game which majority of normies unrecognised and is somehow emerge from normie social platform.

There is an cancelled British TV show called Utopia. The soundtrack by Cristobal Tapia de Veer is definitely "weird" and great

Here's a really strange one I found a while ago, I do not remember what's in this, so listen at your own risk lol. Don't know why but it seems like this channel disappeared recently and and archive of the channel was made a couple day ago
Cant find part 1

I like a lot of indie, lo-fi, and post-punk adjacent obscure stuff like Leven Signs, Cleaners from Venus, Flaming Tunes, Arthur Russell, etc. Whether that counts as "weird" depends on how expansive your music taste is, I guess. I don't really listen to anything intentionally "noisy" or off-putting anymore, but there was a time when I was kind of into Hijokaidan, Ramleh, Kevin Drumm, etc.

the weirdest thing i listen to pretty consistently is Deerhoof, specifically their album Milkman. it's a little messy and abrasive, but occasionally a really catchy melody peeks its head in and it sorta sounds like normal music for a sec. i'd say the best example of this is Song of Sorn. i recommend giving the whole album a shot, its one of my favorites ever. besides that, uhhh... Soul Coughing, anyone?

I really love harsh noise music and loud hardcore stuff in general. I love Merzbow and early Alec Empire and their colab live album is absurdly good to me Alec Empire vs. Merzbow.
I spent a lot of time tinkering with stuff to make noise and make weird feedback loop combinations(that's how i bricked my pc sound card lmao) or destroying old broken electronic stuff to make a lot of buzzing and screeches
Also, i don't know if it's weird enough but i do make some experimental breakbeaty stuff too, but more softer than the stuff i listen lol
