Weird games recommendations?

NDS version is less weird and I think playing the PS2 version in Japanese because it has no English patch yet can make the game way more weirder to non-Japanese speakers!!! lol
for added extra weirdness, every game in this thread should be played in Japanese.

Since you mentioned untranslated games:
deSpiria on the Dreamcast.

Preach!!!! lol

Then I raise the stakes and say Kowloon's Gate. It's even "WTF" when you can understand it, imagine the WTFness trying to understand what the hell is happening lol.

Sony Music: can we make a game
Playstation: sure
...
Playstation: bro what the fuck

Then play this one, you may like it more lol: https://retrogametalk.com/repository/ps2-iso/baroque-undubusa/

They used to share this game around as an illegal drug because I assure you this is stronger than any drug you've experienced!!!! lol
I was thinking of playing it just today, but I couldn't decide what version of the game I should play, the saturn or the PS2.
I saw some mixing reviews saying that the PS2 version has more content, but that the saturn was cooler because of its trippy designs

Why not both? lol

I like both but they have their own special things. Original has the 2D weirdness while remake has the weirdness translated for 3D and it adds another similar taste lol.

But remake has a cool feature of whatever clothes you wear being shown on your character and gives you another taste in combat.

In the end original is for the real taste of the art of the game, while remake is for enjoying another test of weirdness and combat.

But if you wanna get the best experience of course original is the real deal, while remake is more childish to befit modern anime kid generation I guess, but then if you don't care about the art and dislike the gameplay of the original remake is okay alternative.

yeah, that's 100% true, I will try both of them and stick to which one I like the most, thank you :)

- Like they said anything by Suda 51.
- How weird (pun intended) anyone didn't mention "Rez" (Dreamcast / PS2)
- Panic! (Sega CD)
- Kurushi / Intelligent Qube (PS1)
- Mort the Chicken (PS1, apparently has a cameo in Pizza Tower)
- Pizza Tower
- The Mini-Skirt Police (PS2)
- Hong Kong 97 (SNES)
- Nanashi no Game, and its sequels (Nintendo DS)
- Katamari Damacy, if someone did not play it yet
- Mr. Bones (Sega Saturn)
- The Story of Kamikuishiki Village (PC-98)
- Okage: Shadow King (PS2)
- Jumping Flash games (PS1)

Also on PS3

The PC Engine/TurboGrafx library is full of weird and goofy titles, especially the Japanese one… If you're into shmups, I definitely recommend Cho Aniki: Kyuukyoku Muteki Ginga Saikyou Otoko (Saturn/PS1). If I remember correctly, the Saturn version is the more recent one, but it suffers from the technical limitations of Sega’s console…

They live together.

-- On the thread topic I finished a weird interactive novel from this site not that long ago where you go into a mansion after your 2 friends with a girl you half-trust..You make choices along the way that carry weight. I don't really like this genre but enjoyed this one. Short-lived game, so forgot the name. Some Duke Nukem games might fit the bill. Abe's Odysee would be along those lines.

There is a fantastic series that begins with a title "5 days a stranger" that is accessible if you are on a pc or laptop. It begins as a kind of mild "point and click" investigation into a murder, with a few " Clock Tower" elements and it goes into different dimensions with the sequels. Defo, one that would be worth a shot.

Baroque and Jumping Flash are both pretty fun and fairly obscure PS1 titles. They're very tonally different from each other, however.

Regarding "5 days a stranger", I forgot the initial plot (played over 20 years ago). Trilby is a "moral" housethief who steals only from the rich, breaks into a mansion and finds himself in a situation. The series gets a lot weirder as it goes on, with the following games. Would've edited my last post but ran over the 60 minutes. This series should be ported to android somehow.
