I've come across a new emulation issue.

I have this game, Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder. And I've put it to run on MAME in Knulli and in the game I have three attack buttons, but two of them were mapped to shoulder buttons which I tried to change in Retroarch, but even if I changed in the menus, the game still played the same.

And I put the game on PS Vita, and this time I only get one attack button. I've tried choosing another controller type to see if the other attack options appeared, and nothing.

I've looked at faqs and info on the game and they only present an attack button.

Does anyone know why this is happening and a way to have all three attack buttons and being able to remap them effectively?

So you have mapping issues both on MAME standalone and Retroarch?

Just in retroarch, on my Anbernic. The other issue seems to be more in terms of recognizing the gamepad, the input source. But it's weird that when I change the gamepad type, it doesn't give me the other action buttons.

Ah... sadly, my experience with Retroarch is limited (I avoid it), but it may have something to do with the way it abstracts the controller layer.

I think, it's around there... It's weird. I never saw a game behave this way.

only thing i can think of is RA isn't saving the settings after you change them?
you can set it to save settings on exit or i think you have to manually "Save Game Remap" to save the settings for that particular game or "save core remap" to save settings for all games on that core
if its not that then idk 🤷‍♂️

Thanks. I'll try it. The funny thing is if I change the other buttons, it acknowledges the switch. And the buttons change function. Just not for the triggers' functions. The UI acknowledges the switch afterwards, but the new buttons do nothing.

It's probably buggy. The Knulli team says in their page that newer batches of the RG40XXH have new hardware that may not play well with their OS. I have problems turning it on without being plugged to the socket. This may be connected to those issues.

Update: I now know what was happening with my Anbernic rg40xxh. The MAME0139 core has an option callect "Controller to lightgun" enabled by default (?). And so it was mapping my controller to a lightgun. Lol

Funnily enough, when I disable this option, i lose the extra action button in Golden Axe. With the sword wielding guy in blue it was a spin and a sword sttack, like a strong attack.

Update 2: the spinning attack in Revenge of the Death Adder can be done in the game by pressing jump and attack at the same time. The "Controller to Lightgun" was meshing both those buttons together.
