Watch the local Mega Man maniac suffer as they read through Archie Mega Man

Boom, while not being good games, is a nice show that makes meta jokes and self aware comment about the fanbase.

Also Sticks is kinda funny.
I like sticks
I didn't liked how Shadow saw Maria as annoying in the beginning - in the games, they became friends very fast. But maybe it was just Black Doom messing around with Shadow's memories? But excluding that, I liked it a lot, wasn't expecting it, to be honest.
Yeah you can’t have everything with shadow. current sonic writing still needs work but I’m sure it’ll get there.

I like Sticks.
She was crazy and honestly more interesting than any other added characters in the show.

On the other hand I'm not sure if she would work properly in the main timeline since Amy literally referred to her in Frontiers because Boom had a different vibe and setting. Sometimes a comic relief works better in a specific setting.

Maybe they'd rework her a bit.

Sorry, but I don't like to be ridicularized nor talked down. And meta jokes aren't funny.
Who's being ridicularized? I mean it's just self-depreciation for the franchise like how they mention fan fictions or like that one commentary about games.

Meta jokes can be funny when done correctly.

Maybe they should bring Akinori Nishiyama and Shiro Maekawa back. They wrote pretty cool stories (Nishiyama wrote SA1 and Shiro Maekawa wrote SA2, SHeroes and Black Knight).

Well, I don't like self-depreciation. If the creators don't like Sonic, why they're working in a adaptation, then? To me, it is just like those Castlevania and Devil May Cry adaptations - cynical.

To be honest while I don't mind them I don't think stories should matter that much in Sonic games, they're specifically mascot platformers.

Mario games managed to keep being good and iconic despite being mostly about saving the princess.

I mean at some point the Sonic Twitter page was making jokes like these and people liked them and the CM was popular.

Boom has more liberties because it was clearly an alternative universe so that allowed more liberties.

Sorry, but one of the things that made me stick with the Sonic series was its lore and story. SA1 and SA2 have really interesting themes. And the Mega Drive games had lore already - but they stayed only in the japanese materials, or were totally changed.

The USA Sonic Twitter page is terrible. The japanese Twitter page post things commemorating the series: be it some very good official art, Sonic Pict, music, a Sonic plush in some beautiful place, cool merch. The JP page is proud, much better than the USA page who was ashamed of Sonic.

That was an era where japanese and western release had varied lore but I don't mind the bits being in material outside of the game. Sonic is still more popular in the west so the Japanese side taking over the lore kinda felt weird and jarring for US players back when SA1 came out. There wouldn't have been any issues if they kept calling the planet Sonic & Co lived in Mobius.

Some people criticized that Sonic went a bit too hard with having a darker story (and maybe too many characters as well). I cannot blame them for making games like Colours more like a self contained, lighthearted story that doesn't try to have the doctor having to wake up a monster (who would end up betraying him anyway) and having Sonic turning Super right at the end of the game (I understand the difficulty to make Super Sonic working in 3D but it was almost a post-game bonus and reward for the best characters, not a big plot device). Colours finally added Super in normal gameplay which is great.

Perhaps Forces also tried too hard with making the story darker and Shadow would've been fine if he didn't appear again post-SA2.

The US tried a humorous approach.

But while I see some popularity the Sonic series wasn't aimed mainly for a western audience? Especially with his rebellious attitude of the 90's.

The Japanese taking the lore over was the best thing that happened to the series. SA1 was mind-numbing: I was there, I saw it all. When I finally had contact with the Japanese lore I was impressed. "This is so much fun, so much more interesting, the characters are so likable..." There was no reason to divide the lore in first place. But it is over already. The Mobius shit is so bad, the games themselves have LOTS of references to the real world. People only like the USA lore because of nostalgia - and I'm not a nostalgic person.
And I kinda like Colors story, to tell the truth - some parts of it reminds me a bit of Sonic CD. My problem is not with lighter stories, my problem is making Sonic stupid and unlikable, and changing the world.

SA1&2 had the correct tone of light and dark. SHeroes was a simpler story with a cool plot twist. And to tell the truth, I think the less characters you have, the better. SA2 was the best in this regard, no one there is superflous, unlike Big in SA1.

And yeah, Sonic was thought for a worldwide audience - what confused Sonic Team a lot when they saw all the changes SEGA of America did. They really didn't liked it, and I see SA1 as their comeback. "Try to change it now, assholes!"

Shadow was never going to die - Iizuka said it himself. He was always supposed to reappear.

And the " humorous approach" SEGA of America tried just helped to damage the brand even more, in a time things were pretty bad.

"Oh you take this shit too seriously!" Yeah, I do. I like it. The development of the games are fascinating. Especially SA1. Sorry. I really like SA1&2, they were the first games that made me think, not just consume.
