Usually WASD with games with mouse support. If it's one of those 2D games, I can totally use arrow keys with right hand. Some people hate controlling movement with right hand.

Crash N.Sane Trilogy and 4 use WASD and KBM on PC. I see people use it all the time but it just feels weird for me. If I'm playing anything that doesn't involve blasting stuff I use Arrow Keys. It just feels better.

Really depends on the game but

When I first started emulating I used the arrow keys for movement and the numpad for all the controller buttons. Nowadays, WASD and a mouse for FPS games, RTS games, 4X games and isometric RPGs, controller for everything else. x)

Finally PC master race questions that only PC players can answer (yaaaay no Nintendo fans spotted).

WASD offer me a more smooth control that the arrows lack idk why its just that way.

It also feels more professional ::agree

Arrow keys >>> Numpad >>>>>>>>>> WASD for Keyboard exclusive games.

Also I can't fathom anyone that use Numpad 2 for down direction unless they really are masochistic with their fingers.

If you play enough roguelikes, it becomes second nature (i am molded by the fires of CDDA).

In roguelikes, num 5 is usually wait/stay in place.

To be fair, i am used to using the entire numpad for diagonals as well.

I was developing a Unity game and found that there are limitations with the arrow keys. Many keyboards do not seem to register multiple arrow keys and other keys being pressed at the same time. Had to switch to WASD. I was surprised because I played tons of emulated games using arrow keys and then this weird error happens.

the real reason is 665 and 445

virgin numpad hater
- has to use 2 hands to play golden axe
- can't consistently land run attacks
- has to have friends to play vs mode

chad numpad user
- uses 1 hand to play golden axe
- can beat the whole game with only run attacks
- can play vs mode against himself to achieve ultimate mastery

Peabrains don't understand that they can just rebind attack keys to 7 and 9 as well. ::winnie

Also, try to use Numpad 2 for down substitute when playing fighting games. Guarantee that you'll be destroyed in seconds.

Oh yeah, there's also some other games than FPS/mouse-req when I prefer WASD over arrows and numpads actually.
Racing games.
I like to use my left hand for everything when controlling my vehicles TYVM.

ESDF, olden familiarity towards RDFG. Forged from the fires of macro/alias usage in the multiplayer games that demanded of it. Games like Tribes or HL: DM, or any old Rainbow Six.

I run ESDF in games that don't drive demands in terms of binds to save on real estate towards L-Shift/Tab. Trade it out for RDFG if there's tons of requisites in the control schema.

Old school rogue players or Skulltag champions are what always drive my respect for anyone older that still uses numpad. I've been humbled more times than I can count by their finesse.

WASD for movement, CTRL for crouching, shift for jumping, SPACEBAR for grabbing/ open doors.
Speaking of respect: using left shift for jumping! My man!
Used to be my go-to before side mouse buttons and Quake got into my life. Even to this day, I still implement it where jumping is more contextual an action rather than requisite for uniform movement. You ever try MOUSE1 for Interact/Use with Spacebar for shooting, by chance?

Neither. GOOD LORD its 2025, Magnavox invented the first video game controllers in 1972.

53 years later and you are still using keyboards. get a wireless controller already and stop with the key/mouse combo garbage
