It's an experimental movie that is an allegory of cyclical destruction and human decay

The director devoted 30 years to the production of Mad God, while going through phases of depression and existential crisis.

It's a reflection of his psyche, an investigation into madness, suffering and human nature.

The movie takes place in a dehumanized, mechanized dystopian world populated by monstrous creatures, oppressive machines and decaying industrial landscapes.

An underrated work of metaphysical art about the human condition

Best 10/10 anime, worth every minute for elitists aware of the absurdity of this world.

A sardanapalesque topic designed by me, thank you for reading.

Great stop motion animation movie but it feels like the director let go of the already obtuse plotline on the second half. The sequences on the second half feel disconnected, like the director just had a bunch of cool ideas but didn't know how to tie them into the plot but he included them anyway. Still, doesn't take away from the great atmosphere, scene composition, lighting and character design.

I believe that's because the movie was stuck in development hell for a loooong time. I might be wrong though. It's certainly the most terrifying thing I've seen in stop motion.

I am an obvious absurdist but I make ridiculous humor out of it
