Waiting for the PSO2 Private Server

Me, checking for updates every few months on the clementine peoples PSO2 server so i can finally play again without being subjected to NGS

TECHNICALLY you can play it, but you can only unlock it after reaching a certain point in NGS and even when you do it's now treated as free DLC so you have to have NGS installed.
Doesn't help that according to steamcharts the game is basically dead, 2000 average players with most being on NGS

NGS really ruined any motion that I felt PSO2 had. I never played it back before it came to the West, but the good like year or so of when it first launched in the US was the most fun MMO I played and I miss it. Nothing comes close to the PSO/PSU gameplay loop, and I feel like NGS just misunderstood that, and now the game has devolved into millions of boring objectives and blow-all-your-money waifu simulator.

Seriously, I loaded the game up like 3 days ago just to see where it's at, and not a single person was playing, it was just balloon chest characters standing around with clothes that either barely exist or clip through other pieces.

I would absolutely play PSO2 base again if someone made a server for it where you didn't have to have NGS installed, shit was so fun.

Oh yeah PSP2i is a mainstay on any handheld I get. Love that game. Shoutouts to RGT for introducing me to it back in like 2016. Been playing it since. That's how I got into Phantasy Star initially.

And I agree, it is threated as a DLC and it might as well just be that.

Yeah, but nobody is there.

Sega probably hold it hostage so private servers cant be created taking whats left of the NG players

Just like I said above, Sega will probably just close New Genesis along side PSO2 so private servers cant be opened since the offer it right there.

As por New Genesis, I kind of like it, but also no. I just feel it is just too flashy so it looks it is deeper than what it actualy is. PSO1 or even PS get me more hocked than New Genesis. I prefer a more meticulous gameplay.

I really like the idea of private servers, but if I could do something about PSO2 it would be to just make it better rather than split its fan base. Idk, just give everything on PSO2 free or obtainable in game, fix other issues and fix NG as well.

Of course this is just day dreaming, Sega will just hold the IP to force people into NG.

last i tried about a year ago on a fresh account it forced me to play through the tutorial till you reach the first hub city before it even gave me a choice to play the original game

Its totally free, so i would just recommend both to just give it a try. Dont expect a lot of players running around, but if we are going to be 100% honest PSO is not and 'Open world' (the base one) so you are not watching people running around anyways.

Again its free, and even on PS4 or Xone and it is worth at least a try imho

I loved playing PSO2 and I sort of wish NGS was its own separate game rather than making PSO2 a husk of what it is now. Though, hope to see some private servers of it eventually.

Ah PSO2, my favorite character creator sim and every single sexy lingerie in black costs a billion meseta. Fun times.
