Virtual Fighter 6 Leaks

I mean, if there's a time to try and get into the 3D fighter ring it seems like a decent one, right? Are Street Fighter and Tekken the only big ones going right now?

It sure feels like but there's more than meets the surface. Dead or Alive is coming back with DOA6 Last Round next month. But there's also Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, the latest version of Virtua Fighter 5 as well. I'll throw in Soul Calibur 6 into the mix, as well as Guilty Gear Strive, 2KXO, Grand Blue, Undernight In-Birth, just to name a few.

Speaking of Tekken, it's uncertain if we will in the future have an Tekken 9, as Harada now is part on the SNK crew. Namco Bandai continue with rights of Tekken series; but I fear if the next installment can be produced in USA and without his Arcade roots.

I hope that the fighting game showcased on the video can be in fact Virtua Fighter 6, as two new fighters are inserted.

Virtua Fighter is more adapted for competitive manners instead to make a balance between story and casual gaming, unlike popular fighting game franchises such as KOF and Street Fighter. In 1995, Sega ordered for TMS an anime series about VF, who becomes a good success, but all the story was made with a different context and ignored for the games who comes after the anime's broadcast end(exept the Judgment Six existence, who is mentioned in VF5 Final Showdown on the Jean Kujo's story manual).

VF6 has no chance in the modern market if it tries the current business model. The characters are not known enough to milk for DLC, the story is almost non existant, and the fighting is on a very technical level without much flash.
There is a reason it lost out to tekken and soul calibur in the early 2000s 3d fighters. It has a fan base but unless they stick in the lane of the niche fighter the new game will follow all the modern trends and be dead on arrival.

VF4 evolution was the last time the game was good and its a shame. The tutorial was the best in the genre and the adventure mode was the sh*t that simulated working through the arcade scene.

Our main was Lion by the way, we could never make Akira work on a PS controller.
