Virtua Fighter Thread

The most recent release of VF5 which is on PC and is coming to modern consoles has a healthy online life. I can’t tell you whether or not you should play it, but I will say to watch this [video]. Does this game look fun to you? Do you want to do what they’re doing? If yes, then Virtua Fighter may be right for you.
Hell yeah brother I've been getting my ass handed to me every gd day in Street Fighter but this shit I can get into. Haha!

Thank you! Appreciate the reply. :->

I will never not find it funny that Akira, the front box art man of the series, is one of the most highly technical and high tier characters in the game, being the “high execution, high reward” archetype.

Akira DEFINITELY has turned people away from Virtua Fighter before. He’s like playing a crazy supped up Makoto from Street Fighter 3.

I don’t want to be the “um actually”, but I have to be here. Honey is from Fighting Vipers, which is a different game/series mechanically from Virtua Fighter.
I know, I was joking about it since the two series were both on the same console and shared similar graphics.

Oh wow, I never really thought about this but you're right.

Thinking about how popular Ryu is in SF, there must have been a LOT of people started with Akira and then been in for a rude awakening!

It actually makes me kinda sad, I wonder how many people sacked off the game because of this? You put some money in VF2 on the arcade, pick Akira as the protagonist...And get NOWHERE!

I remember VF1 and 2 in the arcades.
VF2 was as popular as Tekken but for a strange reason I never saw the two co-exist. Probably for profits sake.

Players back then liked to pick Wolf, Lau Chan and Shun Di

I did not stumble upon Vf3 as probably the arcade cab was too expensive for many small operators

It was also the last game where Y. Suzuki was involved. I played vf3tb on the Dreamcast and liked it too

VF4 and 5 simplified the controls, removing the dash button I think.

Still very nice games but not as addicting as 2 and 3
