I also forgot To the Moon and its sequels ( Finding Paradise and Impostor Factory ).

I forgot Xenogears, definitely my favorite game of all time, and also Chrono Trigger, another game I love very much.

Dark Souls - Prepare to Die Edition.
I played that game so many times and so thoroughly that I know every inch and enemy, how everything works, etc. When I just want to play a game and not have to learn new patterns or boards or pay attention to cutscenes and story - I boot that up and chill. Good music for it too.

Probably any GTA. It's always nice to load the game and just start driving around, maybe blow some stuff up, with no objectives of any kind ::koishigun

Also, any King of Fighters or Street Fighter where you can just launch the game, have a few quick fights for no reason, quit the game.

If we're talking something longer, I'd go with OG Resident Evil 2 and 3. I've played them both so many times, walking around zombie-infested Raccoon City feels like a nice walk in the park ::eggmanlaugh

For me it has to be The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. Getting a bunch of items that synergize well is a pure dopamine hit. Unless I just have terrible RNG, it's hard to not enjoy a run, even after playing it all these years.

You know what another comfort game for me has been DOOM 1 and 2.

I've gotten soooo much mileage out of them with co-op play and I even bought the android versions to play for a few levels when on trips. I've maybe finished them both at least 20 times over at this point. Never gets old.

Also the mods and wads and custom levels made over the years (and still to this day) always delight. Me and a friend now spend a few nights every year playing them in co-op.
Post automatically merged:

Quake. There is always some new custom map I can play. Gameplay is always solid, level design permitting.

I am also a Quake head. This and DOOM 1 and 2 are the perfect "I just need something to do" games.

My main one is probably World of Warcraft, but I haven't played it in a while now so it doesn't feel appropriate to call it that at the moment.

It's probably some Pokémon game, because I always seem to play those when I'm really sick.
Animal Crossing is of course a good candidate also.

Pikmin 2, Paper Mario TTYD and Dark Souls 1 are like the 3 games I often find myself playing at least once a year. I pretty much know those games inside and out at this point and I find them genuinely cozy lol.

Unreal Tournament 1999 & 2004
Duke Nukem 3D
Turok : Dinosaur hunter
Baldurs Gate 1
Megaman Legends
Dino Crisis 1
Beastbusters : Dark Arms
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 Unite
Vulcanus
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1
Castlevania Symphony of the night
Shadowrun (Snes) ( Only as a Longplay-video lately )
ObsCure

GTA IV, it’s so comforting.

Pokemon Cafe Remix and Solitaire on my Phone, any NES game that brings me back to my Famiclone days also does the trick

I may have more than I can't recall now but the first it came to my mind was NASCAR Rumble for PS1.

Tetris
Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow/Crystal
The Punisher from Sega Genesis (i know is a downgrade of the Arcade version, but i love it)
Painter Momopie
Puyo Puyo (the second one is hard as hell, but is a great game)
Unreal Tournament
GTA Vice City
