Updates that Made Games Less Enjoyable

How is BW2 an update to BW when it’s a direct sequel? USUM is an update, Emerald, Crystal etc.
They said revisions and updates, but never counted out sequels having those. I personally consider the simpler story a revision since BW got shit for being so different.

I stopped playing Binding of Issac because the developers kept bitching about players using overpowered builds
Dude, I know, this killed the game for me. Making crazy bullshit builds that could one-shot everything was the whole fun of the game! I know it wasn't balanced, but they should have thought of that when they were designing the power-ups, not taken the game's fun out. SHEESH, EDMUND!!!!!!!

oh, remembered a fun one:

the PS3 version of Oblivion had a bug that made it impossible to cure vampirism. getting infected with vampirism in that game isn't too bad, but you do take damage from the sun past a certain point. they fixed this in a patch, but for some reason it was reverted by the Shivering Isles expansion, and they never fixed it again before releasing the Game of the Year version. so if your character gets infected, the cure requires you to uninstall the expansion (if you have the DLC) or pop in a separate vanilla copy (if you have the GOTY disc), load your character there, do the quest, and then revert back to the expanded version, lol

I was fucking lit when they nerfed Guppy. You know how many times I got to use Guppy in over 200 hours of play? TWICE. But waaaaaah, Guppy 2 stronk, Guppy breaks the game. Fuck you, Edmund, you little man-baby. Those two times I got to use Guppy was preceded by hundreds of deaths just trying to get Guppy. Not-balanced, my ass.

Hatsune Miku MegaMix on the Switch has an update that removes Miku's panties. Just a black void, actually unplayable for me. Its just something im used to slightly see from time to time in the other past games and then they drop this shit? Same with Fairy Tail on the PS4, i have to play it offline to get the actual game experience since the devs worked hard with Hiro Mashima to make sure each girl has different color underwear
Blue Reflection update prevents you to move the camera low enough to see the girls' pantsu. You gotta try to be creative with glitching the free cam to be able to look.

Rainbow Six Siege lost me when they kept adding the retarded skins that make no sense in a tactical shooter, sure i have seen soldiers and contractors fight in boxers and flip flops, but bright pink? Banana yellow? Neon green? Come on, we doing operations or going to a nightclub? The amount of shit UCP got IRL was because it got soldiers killed, for the love of god get this dumb shit out of a game that is supposed to be tactical.

The Stone Soup one, and the Binding of Isaac one also come to mind.

The Renewal update, for Ragnarok Online.

(Will be using the iconic poster as a placeholder image since I couldn't find a Renewal one, but anyway)

I'm personally very surprised to see this thread isn't filled with MMO's as examples. I'm not the biggest Renewal hater, since there were still some cool additions to the game — such as Brasilis or El Dicastes — that came after the update.

Nevertheless, I'm still much more a fan of the Pre-Renewal days, and I'm most definitely not the only one. Hundreds, if not thousands of private servers exist that are solely designed to emulate the Pre-Renewal era, so it was definitely a controversial change, back in the day.

I could cite other examples here such as MapleStory's Big Bang — but that'd be too big of a ramble. I still think the game's good, but I'm all for a simpler experience that's closer to the essence of what the game originally stood for, rather than anything else.

If by Update and Revision technically included Ports.

Then i'm just gonna list every single Koei Tecmo's Ports here.

I don't get it what they do to every single one of their Ports for example Toukiden Kiwami is a PSP Game, needing to have a System equal to play Monster Hunter World smoothly to even play that game without stuttering feels like Travesty, like wtf.

Aside from the NG+ which I liked, everything added to KH3 made me dislike it more.

I'm not sure whether this is heretical to say, but I think Persona 4 Golden fits this.
I liked the addition of the Adachi social link and more Personas are always welcome, but everything surrounding Marie is just awful to me and I thought most of the added story scenes were plain bloat and bogged down the already fairly slow pacing even more.

And then there is Strange Journey Redux. Good lord.
The added story elements are not just utterly tonally incoherent with the base game, they also actively detract from it and break the progression and difficulty curves. Add to that the crazy downgrade in artstyle from the unique Kaneko art to some of the most plain, nondescript stuff I've seen and man... maybe it's just because I loved the original so much, but I hated that release.

(I just realized my dinky old man brain completely misinterpreted the thread title... oops. Me go bed now.)

I'm going to be heretical with you, then, because I agree! There's so much to manage before taking Marie out for walkies that I personally can't be bothered.

I left the thread title purposefully vague to leave to your interpretation. If you want my opinion on the matter, P4G is essentially just an updated P4, so that's a fair example in my book!
