Movies Unpopular Opinion: The 1995 Mortal Kombat Movie Is Better Than Every Reboot That Came After It Agree or Disagree?

I just watched the recent reboot (the first one, not the sequel that released this year) and it was a fair film, way better than what I was expecting.

The only issues were the ones people have bashed enough, like Cole Young being a new characters made to be the protag, and how the director bragged in interviews about "how they should move away from the curse of videogame adaptations", just for the sequel accept their losses and move back to the roots of what made MK interesting in the first place.

I also find interesting how they made Scorpion a good guy recently, because I always thought he was the main bad ninja while sub-zero was the good one lol.

I enjoyed it quite a bit when I first watched.

Served to "wash my mouth" off the Super Mario Brothers Movie, in a way.

The first movie: much of the lore is missing, what can we add that can fit into it?

The recent stuff: the lore is many, what can we add to make us different

the first MK movie is one of my all time favorites, far better than any of the movies that came after regardless of its faults, and it has the most badass soundtrack that to this day is unbeaten.
