I do agree that a lot of battles can get repetitve especially the rescue missions but the reason people praise Devil Survivor so much is it's characters and routes, most Devil Survivor fans including myself agree that the 2nd games encounters and combat are better but what made the 1st game so special was how great the chatacters were and how all the routes had actual nuance instead of the usual Megaten affair of chaos bad, law bad, neutral good.
