One of my favorite things about the Saturn is its ability to always show me something new and exciting that I’ve never heard of before. Especially in classic gaming genres.

Just recently, I learned about “The Game Paradise” which is a vertical shooter/shmup that takes place in a Japanese arcade, with a bunch of arcade paraphernalia attacking you! Infamously, it also features a section on Saturn where the system’s own 32-bit CPU is taken over by a rogue 8-bit CPU, and a whole bunch of early 80’s arcade games begin to attack you. The game was made by Jaleco and it uses their real retro game library as inspiration for many of the enemies you face and characters you play as.

What are some fun games on the system that you never hear people bring up? Could be from any region. The only requirement is that it must be for the Saturn.

If you like T&E Soft golf games (I do), the Saturn is home to like five of them, possibly more.

It has a good version of Cleopatra Fortune, which you can buy on Steam now as one of the SS Revival series or whatever they call it.

Gals Panic SS doesn't have naked asses afaik but the gameplay is intact and fun.

Liquid Kids also has a good port, iirc it's either arcade perfect or really close.

There's a bunch of weird stuff like Tryrush Deppy and Delisoba Deluxe but ymmv with all of that stuff.

There´s this kinda unknown fighting game called "Rabbit", all the characters use this stand-like animal spirits that help them to fight. It´s not perfect but it can make you have a fun time.
Published by EA only in Japan, if I remember correctly!

Don’t worry though. It’s back before EA became the devil… fully.

Street Fighter 2 Movie is a funky one.

No, not “Street Fighter: The Movie” which is based on the North American film, this is based on the OVA. It’s an FMV game where you play as a shadoloo robot, collecting data to replicate the fighting techniques of the world’s greatest by analyzing the moves performed in clips of the movie. There’s a fighting section that’s based on the data you’ve collected while playing, but it’s mostly an FMV game. Funky little oddity, but not a great example of the genre. Don’t get confused when you see it in an import shop and accidentally buy it thinking you’ll get a fighting game.

Waku Waku 7, a really bonkers fighting game about finding the dragon ba... i mean seven orbs to get a wish, the game is real good in arcade and the Saturn port, flickering aside manages to be as good as PSX's own arcade ports, is a shame the game is obscure since it is pretty good gameplay wise, then again most people only knows Alina

Bug and Bug Too are some great grid-based platformers on the Saturn.

I got rid of my system a while a go because it took up a lot of room for the limited library, but I still have many found memories on the system with some great games. Luckily most of them are either on other systems too (Like Crusader: No Remorse) or are easily emulated.
