Uh why did mario's eyes get like that?

A friend was playing mario world and mario's eyes suddenly got like that, and since he's on switch online its not a romhack

Maybe is an unused damage sprite (dont need to explain why) because only that or a dizzy status could use the one eye up and the other down

Unless is an easter egg

That said, if you look very close you can see that one of Mario eyes isnt in the right place. So is a glitch
