*TWEEEEET* It's the Pikmin Thread!!

I started the first one a few days ago. Figuring out where to go and when has taken a little trial and error, but it is a lot of fun. I was proud at only having lost 1 Pikmin in the first couple of days, and in one day I'd lost like 90... ::nervous-prinnyIt's fun, but I am rubbish at it! ::eggmanlaugh

don't worry; it takes time to get good at the game. and pikmin is meant to replayed several times. i got the bad ending the first time that i played. you'll get the hang of it before you know it. and then you can try the randomizer, which makes the game both harder and easier at the same time. ::terriermon-happy

Don't feel disheartened by it. The games got a bit of a learning curve but once you get over that hump you'll hopefully be enjoying it a lot more, and any subsequent play through will be a much better time. Also, just out of curiosity, what version of the game are you playing?

Okay, I've taken a look at it and I have to say it's something completely different from what I'm used to playing. At first I also thought it was some kind of gardening game.

you're not the first one that i've heard say that. i'm still not sure how people come to that conclusion, but i guess that's because i read about the game in nintendo power and had some time to read about it.
it's a very fun game to play, and fairly short; you can beat it in a day. the world record for speed running the game is about an hour and a half if i remember correctly.
hopefully you'll have some fun when you play it; and if you need any help or advise, feel free to ask me or anyone else here on the thread.

Thanks, it doesn't look difficult but I would say it's a bit too short.

don't worry, the second game is much longer. not too much, but it has more content. there is both a treasure and monster encyclopedia that has a bunch of notes about the wildlife and some speculation of what happen long ago on this strange planet.
the 3rd game is a little bit longer than the 1st one, it's easier though. the 4th game is much longer, about 30 to 40 hours on a regular playthrough. most of that feel like it is taken up by the tutorial, and there is a remake of pikmin 1 in the game as well.
the in-game days in pikmin 1 are 13 minutes each, 16 in the pal region. so, at most, it's about 7 hours long. but a lot of the fun comes from testing yourself and seeing how much better, faster and efficiently you can collect the ship parts, defeat monsters and set up the best paths for the pikmin to take while collecting the spoils of war.

Cheers! I haven't gotten frustrated or anything yet, there are just some minor annoyances that I'm getting used to.

That sounds good.

i'm cleaning up some stuff in my room, and i found my instruction booklet for pikmin 1.
thought i would scan in a couple of pages and share them with all of you.

A lot of the joy for me in 2 was reading Louies entries and watching that guy being an absolute menace.

yeah, he is an insane beast. some enemies disintegrate upon death, yet he is able to eat them.
he must just straight be eating them while they are alive.
and according to what i heard, there was a japanese website for pikmin 2 saying that louie has a wife.

A wife!? Poor lady must sleep with one eye open.

i think it was a imonlyhereforpikmin video, but i heard about this some time ago, so i don't clearly remember. she most likely does sleep not only with one eye open but probably with a frying pan or machete nearby for protection.
