Hi everyone, recently I bought a bunch of DVD+Rs (from verbatim) and am trying to burn PS2 games on them, I have a SCPH-77001 but im having difficulty since whenever I try to run the games I get a "please insert a PS or PS2 format disc" error, I have a freeMcboot memory card if that helps. Wondering if I bought the wrong type of disc or I'm writing files incorrectly. Thanks in advance.

did you create a disc image from the bin and cue with imgburn? After you do that, burn the ISO to a disc. Well that is how it works for PS-One anyway.

I only burnt the ISO, the files I get off the repo here don't typically include disc images from what I remember, could be a PS1 thing but dont take my word for it

Try ImgBurn or Power Iso at 4x
I am using PowerISO, I feel like im doing something incorrectly though if I tried 2 discs with the same game and neither read. When I used ImgBurn, the whole DVD stopped working, my PC couldnt open or eject it, and I had to use a paper clip for the emergency eject in the drive

usually mine pops out when it's complete even though it tells me to insert the disc again.

i remember needing a program that, did something to the iso that made it so the ps2 would recognize it as a legit disc, but i don't remember what it was. it's been so long since i used a ps2 and discs to play ps2 games.

No no, that's not FreeMCBoot for. PS2 can't read burnt DVD's directly, you need the help of external software, such as ESR or FreeDVDBoot.

if all you're using is freemcboot and not a hardmod you'll need to patch you're ISOs first before burning them.

Thanks for the help! Is the process the same for if I wanted to burn movies for the built in DVD player?
it might be similar. i did have a program that would set up mp4s into a dvd like iso format. the discs worked in a xbox series x so i don't see why not.
