I had heard about this game for a while; I remember that a YouTuber I follow made a video about it. I recently picked it up to play, and wow, it's a lot of fun.

This game has mechanics identical to Max Payne's, bullet time, and it's really cool to see the shot hit the enemy, especially when it's with the grenade launcher and bazooka.

It's open world, and the map is very detailed for the time it was released.

There are extra modes, like one where you become a Mexican wrestler and have to face other Mexican wrestlers, and there is one where you have to face NPCs dressed as Halloween skeletons.

There are 7 skills; there's one that gives you a golden pistol that explodes enemies, there's another where the character uses two submachine guns and jumps in the air shooting, there are others that give you two submachine gun cases, and there are two that give you two allies; one of them is an NPC with a Halloween skeleton outfit and a sombrero; he uses a grenade launcher and shoots everything. The other is a Mexican wrestler—and my favorite is the one where the character imitates a bull and runs everyone over.

This game has a rewind, an ability that lets you go back a few seconds; you can't swim, and when you fall into the water, you are teleported back to the surface, and a message appears saying, (This is not a board diving game.)

Honestly, it's a good game, extremely fun. Unfortunately, the second game never saw the light of day; unfortunately, the game developer went bankrupt in 2009, but I recommend the game itself—it's worth it.

Yeah it looks good, never heard of it until recently. And from what you wrote, it seems like worthy of a try.
PS2 had tons of legendary video games that platforms afterwards had nothing like that can compete with PS2 games at all and I mostly mean in terms of features, innovation in gameplay and variation. After PS2 era video game industry started to be generic of generic, gameplay reduced to mere walking, story is time waster dialogues, et cetera with rare exception and then Death Stranding is the result lol. Walk and walk, do chores you wouldn't wanna do in real life and when you don't walk enjoy mindless killing that's no fun or add anything to video game industry whatsoever. "Enjoy paying a license to rent the ripped out version of our games until we remove the game from your library just for $79.99" -- video game industry lol.

The music that plays in the menu is pretty good.

I forgot to add that this game has hats, which you acquire from NPCs, including the sombrero, and the sound design of this game is good.

Running up walls and flipping in the air while shooting enemies in slow motion was a lot of fun. It was really cool how you'd shoot an enemy and their sombrero would go flying into the air and land on your head.

I was excited for Faith and a .45, their canceled game, during the Xbox 360 and PS3 days.

You say Death Stranding is the result. But before that we had FF13. They took all the real gameplay out of the game and made it a walking simulator with a lame combat mechanic and boring characters

Total Overdose is a great game. I remember my first exposure to it was a friend's demo, probably on Xbox. I picked it up cheap later on the PS2 and really enjoyed it. I also played it on PC a few years ago and it was still a fun time even despite a frustrating handful of deaths here and there.

I've always meant to play the sort of sequel on PSP; Chilli Con Carnage, but still haven't got around to it.

As far as I know, the PSP version is just a port of the PS2 game, not a sequel in itself, but I could be wrong.
