What are some of the top 10 Gaming sins in gaming design and gaming mechanics that makes you quit a game and wich are some you dislike but can tolerate to some extend.
Rank those from 1 to 10 by 1 being mildly annoying and 10 being give me my Money back Tier.
So here for example a few there are more but here a small example:
Microtransactions (The Classic)
Baby Tutorial (Pretty much a Tutorial wich is forced and treats you like a Infant)
No Saving whenever you want only in Specific Locations (Can be annoying if you have a life)
Online Only
Pay to Win
Day one DLC (Pretty much a DLC that releases together with the game)
Cringe Dialogue (When developers make very cringy dialogue and try to input there own blant Humor in games)
Wrongly Translated (Games that are either on accident or purpose wrongly translated
Those where a few Examples but I am sure you all know some more.

Online only & microtransactions are big annoyances of mine.

DLC in general can be annoying, but not all DLC is inherently bad. Full on expansions that come out well after the initial release are usually the better examples of good DLC, while minor stuff available "day 1" is usually lower-effort.
I hate multiple season passes for one game, especially when not everything is even included in the season passes to begin with.

I also hate un-skippable cut scenes. Even the best video game stories should be able to be skipped, especially on a repeat playthrough.

For me not in any Order
Microtransaction I despise them
Online Only I dislike them as I know those games are build to die one day
I have nothing against DLC either but day one DLC shows that the cut content from the game to sell it later seperate to get even more money.
Butchered Translations and Censorship are a big no no for me I even Imported a game once because of this crap.
Unreasonable grinding if you have to farm hours for a single level later one gets annoying
Also I hate tutorials that Introduce so many mechanics right from the start before it lets you play sorry but I don't want to read a book before I can even start the game

I find grinding in RPGs to be mostly relaxing, but I get what you mean. I find it unreasonable when you have to grind out items from enemies with very low drop rates!
I do dislike it though when the same enemies give you less exp the more you level up. I get it's to stop you from getting too OP, but I love feeling OP in RPGs ::eggmanlaugh

First thing that came to mind for me 🥳

I've never understood why video games are the only [pre-recorded] home entertainment medium that completely blocks you from skipping ahead. If I want to read ahead in a book, nothing is stopping me from jumping a few chapters forward. If I don't like a scene in a movie, I can either fast forward or skip to the next chapter.

Imagine watching Netflix without the ability to jump ahead on anything. Want to show a friend a cool clip from an episode of a show? Too damn bad - you have to start from the beginning and wait it out!!

How I pine for the days of level select codes, or games that let you choose your level at will. Super Mario 64. GoldenEye. Heck, even Donkey Kong Country, and plenty of NES games let you do that!

Sigh...

You already wrote all the stuff I would write so you didn't leave me much to write, so I gotta go deep into the abyss of video game BS now!!!! lol

- Cringe fan service elements that turns the game primitive shit for teen bois. The game sometimes using sexual elements which this stuff is nothing I would care, but when it causes fundamental cringy design and progression issue it's when I stop playing a game. For example Prince of Persia: Warrior Within on paper a "good idea" game for its "stucking in an island and you gotta survive" and then it goes deep into its lore, you time travel between different time-states of the island and all so it sounds like a great game huh? But whole game is you as a man vs "half naked women" BS. Dude, do you think only horny teens plays a game? The fuck is this BS? It was literally like some random sexual Japanese game logic lol.

- Brainwashing elements, not because to build a character or making it a part of a situation but this is what the developer want people to learn about what they think. Hideo Kojima is prime example about it with his naive ideas, and these days developers turned it into a social matter.

- The games that unnecessarily forces you to replay the game over and over again to experience full of the content. I don't mean games like Nier 1 that has a good point for replaying the game and Persona 1 that has 2 different storyline that depending on your choice your route changes for the game is like "2 game in 1", I do mean games like new Persona games that has huge BS timelimit that prevent you from enjoying all of the "social activities" in one playthrough for no good reason. It also causes you to can't realistically level up stats of your character to be able to unlock dialogue options to experience the side of the situations you would wanna experience until 2nd playthrough at least. I can tolerate this in Persona games at some extend but not in another game, it is instant "hell no" and refusal to play the game.

- Too much dialogues. Often I just say "ugh" and stop playing games that even by skipping dialogues it takes too much to skip to the part you actually play the game.

- Too much BS cutscenes. Either they are Japanese weird shit or boring nonsense unnecessary cutscenes.

- Nonsense situations that really don't make sense. So many games made me just say "WTF is this BS" and stop playing it.

- Annoying elements. Once I tried Animal Crossing game on Switch 1 just because a friend asked me to try it but damn the game is crazy. Instead of voices they used annoying shit SFX for "dialogue sound" to indicate characters talking and damn animals talks a lot and drag on and on the BS as if they are a lonely granma who doesn't ignore any chance to speak for hours lolol.

- Story being too BS and/or not interesting to justify a reason to play when gameplay is boring. It can be a story like "Mario they kidnapped the princess and opps she is not in this castle too" and "I wanna be a hero just to be a hero so let's take this journey together hurraaayy" BS lol.

- Lack of vision gameplay. For example I always disliked the way in Monster Hunter games your character doesn't attack the monster but attacks towards the monster without any bother with aiming. I dislike such games. IDK why they don't even bother with making your character actually attack to the enemy.

- New RPGs developed via the ancient way of developing a game. I kinda ignore any new RPG that the armors you equip don't change the way the character looks. In this time and age I won't tolarete such games that got behind of modern elements in RPG games.

- I ignore RPGs that don't allow you to create your own character anymore. I don't play with pre-created and forced character RPGs anymore with great exceptions.

- But most importantly I ignore games that is not better than a similar game I played long time ago. For example after enjoying Metal Gear Rising's real-time realistic cutting simulator gameplay I can't enjoy hack and slash games that doesn't have such or similar gameplay at all unless they do offer other fun ways like how Persona 5 Striker's fast and quick tactical gameplay gives me pleasure and how Devil May Cry combos are fun. So at this point I cannot enjoy a game that only has the point of swinging a melee weapon in ordinary matter just to kill and that's it.

That's also why after I played GTA San Andreas I cannot tolerate inferior GTA games like GTA 4 and GTA 5 lol.

I don't really have a specific order, but I can think of a few:
  • Gacha/lootbox mechanics.
  • "difficult gameplay" when in actual fact it's just annoying game design (Silksong).
  • Any form of shoehorning political views, both left wing & right wing. It's a brilliant way to alienate at least half of your audience, Webfishing.
  • Unnecessarily large file sizes.
  • "WOOOAAHHH LOOK AT THESE SICK GRAFIX BRO" *motion blur, dulled colours, fan sounds like a jet engine, 5fps on anything that isn't a quantum computer*
  • American voice actors doing anime voices.
  • Vinesauce-slop. I can't give an explanation for this, I just sense it.
  • Too many in-game UI options when unwarranted.
  • Games that try to be like Earthbound too much, Undertale/Deltarune.
  • Anything that tries to be a "meme".

American voice actors doing anime voices.
I especially avoid when the dub is made by American voice actors, it's especially cringy when they trying to pronounce Japanese words ayy lmao. They are like "Saaaakuuuhhhh... RAAAAHHHH????¿¿¿¿¿" *the american voice actor crashes in blue screen of death error* lolol. Relatively I do prefer British voice actors instead. However not all American voice actors are bad, for example my favorite is Yuri Lowenthal who dubbed Yosuke in Persona 4. He is really gooooood. But usually Americanos suck hardos lol.

My guy not being Yosuke's voice actor, he being Yosuke himself ayy lmao:

Do you want to True gaming Sins.
MV5BMDUyYmEzN2ItODM4Yy00ZWYyLWFkODQtYWI0N2ExMGFhZGNiXkEyXkFqcGc@._V1_.jpg

this, this, is a true sins right there. a creation to Satan himself.

Long unskippable cutscenes right before a difficult boss battle is one of the most insulting and brainless things. No one wants to watch that cutscene ten times.

In RPGs, the combination of high encounter rate and slow battle systems is fatal, and each is bad by itself.

I believe most of the sins from people will have 0 impact to companies, which rely specifically on those to make money thanks to next gen users.

My list can be redundant, but I am sure I can "ante up" with something worth. Not in any particular order:
  • Not having the original dub from the country where the game was developed.
  • DLC's.
  • Microtransactions.
  • Online only games.
  • Enforcing autosave feature. I want to save whenever I want but manually.
  • Unable to become god even if spending many hours on grinding.
  • Censorship of any kind.
  • Getting a not well finished / polished product with performance issues everywhere.

Long unskippable cutscenes? But I'm a kind of enjoy watching Long cutscenes Kind of feels like you're watching films like Metal Gear Solid.

Well with modern Games they don't need to hire people for the testing of the game anymore as they just use the gamers and best thing people even pay them to be beta testers for a broken mess.
Also I hate the Game is Digital only especially a problem nowadays I love to have it physical as a prove that I own the game and not simply buying a license to play it.

No, it's not just long unskippable cutscenes, it's long unskippable cutscenes every time before a difficult boss fight that player may have to repeat over and over again.

At that point I would use cheats then if I can.

Imagine Dark souls would be that atrocious luckily its not otherwise I would not even have beaten the first Game.
Oh and I also hate I nearly forgot that one when you can't pause the game and that in a offline game this is one thing that pissed me off in dark souls 1 it doesn't makes it more difficult it makes it more annoying

I have 5

Any time the game stops you and forces you to walk so you can listen to the characters yap

Any time the characters dont stfu and rob you of having your own reaction to stuff because they HAVE to comment on everything

Any time a game treats you like a mongoloid and has the character just tell you the solution to puzzles and how to wipe your ass

5000 markers and yellow paint just in case you ever try thinking for yourself, explore or god forbid develop a sense of direction

Making your starting moveset crap, and to make it normal you gotta do a bunch of repetitive nothings. And the final moveset is nothing special anyway. So it's really just to make the game longer

THIS is why I hate Otacon in Metal Gear Solid 2 ::sailor-embarrassed

Yeah. That's why I stopped playing Lies of P and then refused to play other souls-like games. I don't have a life anymore that makes me okay playing games without pausing games like every 5 minutes. In fact when I played Lies of P I was so distracted by phone calls and people come at me to talk to me I could barely make one inch progress in 3 hours and I had to leave my character to die every time lol. Even while writing this message I also talked to many people lol.

Well, I also despise digital only games, but as the focus of the thread was the game design and mechanics, I didn't include the distribution medium.

Yes, otherwise from the start Denuvo in a game is an instant "hell no" for me until it's cracked.

BTW I followed you so thus I learned you send a message to have an excuse to send a reply to you because I'm a stalker and also S.T.A.L.K.E.R. lolol.
