This is a Thread is focused on all things Toonami, even before it was called Toonami and had Moltar as Host. Anything and all things, even from Archive Org. Pictures, Books, Merch, Advertisements, Lost Media, Videos, Youtube Stuff from People. Just everything. Also can share similar Broadcasts and Things as Well, like Saturday or Weekday Blocks, or whatever. New and Old. Maybe you have Stories? There are People from all over, on this Forum, and certain things are shown in certain places. Maybe you all know of some Media pertaining to the Topic.

Here are some I'll share:

I was there when Toonami launched back on March 17, 1997 with ThunderCats, Voltron, Cartoon Roulette, and The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest. I remember every iteration of Tom, I remember seeing Tom 4 sign off for the last time, and I remember every time the Invader showed up to face off with Tom. Many of the anime series I hold dear in my childhood were either on Kids WB or Toonami.

Toonami was my whole afternoon after school for years, thank you Toonami.

When they started doing that retro block last year, I was intending on catching it every week but I missed the second run and didn't bother catching up. Then my cable ran out. ;_;

If you haven’t watched this since you were a kid or a teen or whatever, try it now. It’s for you
Man, Toonami, Put out some Bangers, back in the day. Music and Bumper wise.
Even the One-off's where Fire.

And then the End of Toonami. man i think i almost cried.

But i thought this, was Always the best Tom speech.

I used to record the DBZ and Gundam Wing episodes on VHS. I had a few Frieza Saga episodes I would rewatch when I had nothing better to do. I also paused it and tried to draw the characters from the show. Had a pretty good Piccollo drawing I was proud of.

Frieza Saga is PEAK bro, also a drawing? Can I see it? ::peek

I have watch Toonami since 1997-2005. It had great hits such as Sailor Moon, Dragonball, Hamtaro, Bo-Bo-Bo, Naruto, IGPX, Space Dandy. And sometimes they would do video game reviews such as Mr. Mosquito, and Super Mario Sunshine.

I'll look forward to it! May Shenron give you your powers back::bigboss

Turned out a lot better than I thought it would, lol. All that practice paid off. I might color it and see how it looks.

Oh man, Toonami was the best back in the day! I for some reason remember Monster City and Wicked City where some of my favorites anime for the time but may not have been on Toonami ( i think different regions may have had different broad casts, or my memory is failing). They where apparently part of the same authors shared world of Hideyuki Kikuchi, and that got me in to his books. No-idea why non of his other works where picked up, he might have been too risque, since allot of his stuff was written in the 80s/ 90s, and their sensibilities where different.

I know that Tenchi and, Cow Boy Beepop where on it Toonami and awsome then. Speaking to my brother, he has reminded me that while not anime the old school Justice League cartoons used to be some of my go to.

Toonami is one of the greatest experiences that came from Cartoon Network during the '90s. Whether it be awesome anime and action cartoon shows, AMVs, video game reviews, or viewer drawings, Toonami had it all and it's something that I'll truly and wholeheartedly love now and forever, especially since it went hand in hand with my time playing the Nintendo 64, PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and Sega Dreamcast.

What made Toonami even more epic and legendary was its special events:

Toonami Midnight Run - Gorillaz and Daft Punk

Toonami Giant Robot Week - Martian Successor Nadesico

Toonami Giant Robot Week - Neon Genesis Evangelion

Finally, aside from Toonami, there was another awesome action block that aired alongside it on Cartoon Network during the Saturday Nights of 2003-2004, the block itself being called the Saturday Video Entertainment System or SVES for short and much like Toonami, it's also something that I'll truly and wholeheartedly love now and forever, especially since it went hand in hand with my time playing the Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance, and PlayStation 2.

Honestly, I always get some Sci Fi Saturday Anime stuff and Toonami mixed up. Like, obviously dbz was Toonami, and most movies were Sci Fi, but did Toonami show the Patlabor series at one point, or Iria? It's all a jumble and I don't have the motivation to look it up.

Duude, i remember Iria from back then also, and Patlabor, both epic anime, and had some of the best character / monster design! Might have been sci-fi but i am confused as you.

Iria predates Toonami. They used to show late night anime movies on Cartoon Network on Saturdays. I remember watching Vampire Hunter D and Twilight of the Cockroaches.

Ohhhh that's where I saw Vampire Hunter D. I could never remember how or where I saw that, like it came to me in a dream or something. Cartoon Network was really influential in the anime scene. Props to them

Maybe the Cartoon Network animes were on Wednesdays and The Sci Fi ones were on Saturdays. I remember watching Iria and Dominion Tank Police on Sci Fi and Vampire Hunter D and Twilight of the cockroaches on Cartoon Netowkr.

IIRC Cartoon Network did a several night long anime thing that predated Toonami and Adult Swim. I was pretty young but years of Sci Fi and bootleg videos with horrible translations had already poisoned my brain. I think they showed Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival, and Night of the Cockroaches and it may have coincided with a festival or Otakon. I don't remember them doing it again but I suspect it was to gauge interest for stuff like Toonami.

I agree here, and thank you, as you have confirmed i was not going crazy thinking the same way. As i am sure i saw some of this stuff on cartoon network late night also. I know when sky tv dishes and cable tv (cannot remember which my family had) was about when i was still in the uk, that i was going between cartoon network ans sci-fi channel for my anime fix.

And regarding bootleg vhs, i remember a comic shop that used to sell these, and thanks to them i got introduced to central park media, us manga corps and a boat load of other companies i knew nothing about when i was younger.

Hideyuki Kikuchi, was involved in Vampire Hunter D back then also, check out his works on the link. The guy is under rated!
