I'm not into classic books, let alone Japanese books for that matter.
However, as of late, I have been obsessing over Mishima. I despise his politics and much of his worldview, but he is a fascinating person along with writer.
As of late I have been reading The Temple of the Golden Pavilion on and off for a while now and thought it was pretty good ignoring alot of the very.. odd... stuff in it.
Anyways, how do you feel about his work or life?

We can say that about a ton of authors and artists to the point we can just stop caring... unless buying their stuff finances their world domination plan.

I knew him only by the memes surrounding him. There's a lot I didn't know about him, like how he was a writer and actually won the Nobel for literature. I also didn't know he had such extreme beliefs regarding politics, to the point of trying to overthrown his own government. But even so, he has a lot of interest ideas outside of politics that are worth digging in his books. I'm gonna give them a read eventually. Thanks for bringing attention to him ::thumbsupwario

What's caused the uptick of his name popping up all of a sudden? I was just preparing to read his book Confessions of A Mask while perusing some info before a sudden uptick in youtube vids and my own friend group mentioning him. It's gotta be a weird coincidence but interesting nonetheless. Maybe it's all a hint for me to read the guys work. Apparently despite his militaristic and misogynistic personality, his writing style seems beautiful and the subtle glimpses into him through his books could be interesting food for the mind.
