Thoughts on the Announcements from TGS 2025?

I think none of them are appealing.

This whole year has been a bust as far as new games or upcoming games are concerned. The only thing I'm in for are the remasters and remakes like Trails 1st, FF Tactics, Dragon Quest I & II, or VII.
Feels like the industry is creatively dying and no one wants to admit it. There is so little to get excited about anymore. Nintendo couldn't even think of any games to release for their new console other than a new Donkey Kong game.

Actually, you're on the money. Right now we're in the midst of a slow-burn second video game crash, where in most attempts at creating something new end up becoming victims of downsizing and lay-offs.
Basically, it ain't pretty.

The talent that built the industry is all old, retired, or actually dead now.

Creatively, all entertainment industries are dying due to skill loss. Writers and directors these days are human dumpster fires, everything polluted with echo chamber activism and recycled derivative crap, barely any better than what a half-assed AI tool can put together.

I don't know about the Japanese one, but the international one was embarrassing save for a few selects.

I think the main problem is that the AAA industry is washed. There're still some indies of interest, such as the upcoming UNBEATABLE.

Granted, UNBEATABLE is probably an exception, and there's a chance that, once it comes out, it's hot garbage. Usually indies deviate into one of four routes:

- Quirky RPG with themes of depression and sadness and mediocre combat
- Metroidvania (inspired by Dark Souls or not)
- Roguelike (deck builder or not)
- Farm game (that will be worse than early Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley)
