I'm a fan of indie horror games, especially the wave of "mascot horror" games that have come out since FNAF broke open that particular floodgate (mostyl because I have a phobia of mascot costumes so I find these games are some of the only ones that can actually get a scare out of me these days)

So, based on that enjoyement of the genre, I heard about Indigo Park, a pseudo-Disneyland horror title that has Ch1 available on the Steam store. It's been up for a while now, but after hearing about it I decided I should check it out.

Despite enjoying a lot of the opening atsmophere of the game, I ended up dramatically dissapointed.

0 controller support, janky animations and controls and don't even get me started on how they somehow managed to fade to black between literally every transition in the game. This feels like a major amateur hour sort of experience and yet all of the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. I was a bit confused by this at first. Even if most people wheren't bothered by the janky stuff and poor design, I'd still have expected more negative or neutral reviews.

Then I found out that it was made by a YouTuber (not someone I'm familiar with tho). Is this a case of a bunch of YouTuber fans giving a janky episodic title great reviews or am I going insane here?

Has anyone else tried out Indigo Park, and if so, what did you think of it? Was it the enjoyable horror experience that you were hoping for? Also, what did you think of the final chase sequence from a gameplay perspective? Did it seem well-designed to you or where you just ultimately frustrated by it?

I only watched a video but it seemed intriguing. I can't comment on the gameplay though since my old computer can't handle it unless it comes to Playstation. The game might be carried more due to the story, intrigue, character mysteries and such that the player picks up from their playthrough.

I think the catchy ending credits song helped with the reviews. It certainly made me curious instead of giving it a meh...

Your usual "Puzzle Solving first person haunted house ride game with a gimmick", it has some good ideas but nothing new under the sun, on the bright side i have a new cinnamon roll to overfixate onto

Yeah, before I played it all of these things were what interested me. Being honest it's not like the game doesn't have some decent creepy atmosphere, I guess I was just hoping for more from the premise than I got.

A lot of the character and world design elements are really well done tbh, I just think it's gonna be a "watch the community on YouTube" game for me, rather than one that's worth playing for myself.
