We did, and we still do. It's weird for me, of all people, to be posting something against AI or rather, calling it names. Now, I’m going to throw out the usual arguments. Yes, it’s a tool has its place and can be useful. That said, no, it is not the be all and end all of anything. It should not be used to replace writers, artists, CGI technicians, and artists. It should never be used in place of a human because it just doesn’t have imagination nor a soul so to speak. It simply can’t outdo a human.I don't particularly care. We used to say 'shovelware' and 'asset flip'. Now we say 'slop'. The term works and even if someone can't exactly define it everyone knows what kind of games are being described.
Yes, in terms of speed, it will draw or generate circles around a human, that’s not even a contest.
A high-end, good AI can produce a thousand or more images in the time it takes a human artist to finish one good image. But I would rather have that one good image.
Should we absolutely hate AI? No, not at all. Again, it has its place.
For funny memes, some dumb videos, helping people with work, or even curing diseases. AI is welcome for those things. But it’s when people just use it to be lazy, typing in prompts and not doing the work that’s where the problem lies.
I have no problem with someone using AI to make something for their own use or enjoyment that’s whatever. But when you start flooding the market with just "Prompt, Prompt, Prompt, Prompt" and little else, and the outcome is even less than subpar, yet people think it’s great that’s where the line should be drawn.
So, do I think it’s slop?
Not all of it. Do I think 98% is?
A Resounding Fuck Yes.
