”This game sucks! I love it!”

any time I have played Vermintide 2, which has been for 1000+ hours, I usually end up griping on all the things it did worse than the first game or how poorly executed some new things are etc etc. But overall the core melee combat is still there and something I can't quite get anywhere else. I would still describe my relation with it as a hostage situation though since it basically siphoned VT1's entirely playerbase which is what I'm really longing for. also its engine always feels like it's running at questionable performance at best

1 the hidden obsidians are always in hard locations and some locations are a death trap
so you can die like 40 or 60 times trying to get 1 of them
2 the bosses you can not see the hp and its just hard to kill some of them
3 first time you play the game you do not know where to go and get lost alot
4 some puzzles in the game are very hard
5 when you want to buy upgrades its always a long walk back to the temple so you almost never buy just 1 upgrade that can help against a boss or enemies you wait until you can buy 3 upgrades
despite all of that i still love the game

Also kinda of a guilty pleasure. The GTA III Definitive Edition on switch is a buggy mess, runs way worst than other platform and it looks like shit. BUT I STILL LIKE BECAUSE I AM GTA 3 BITCH <3

The shitty dungeon crawling side mode for Danganronpa V3. I 100%ed it and to this day I question my sanity. I get that it was pandemic, but Christ, myself.

I love this game to death but it is a grindfest and seems to genuinely hate the player through every corner, it is arguably a downgrade over World DS.
The only thing noteworthy about this game is the DNA Evolution Mechanic that allows you to fuse two Digimon to create a stronger Digimon, through it also sucks because a lot of Digimon are locked to the Online and all fusions are literally impossible to figure out without a detailed guide.

Now that I think about it, a wide margin of Digimon games suck but I love them regardless, like World 2 and World Championship. Not World 4 tho, that one is gutter trash.

Addendum: Found my Save File, 300+Hours, Platinum Tamer Rank. Couldn't 100% because last Tamer Rank is locked to the online. This is a toxic relationship if I ever saw one.
I feel those games are genuinely good, but they need tweaks (encounter rate needs to go DOWN, text speed needs to go UP, LOL)

For me personally, it’s probably this one that springs to mind first (among MANY other games)

It’s janky, boring, repetitive, and blatantly unfinished. But it’s such a cool game despite it. The creator’s vision was super clear and I love how artistic it is, and I’m a big sucker for games heavily inspired by biblical/religious themes.
It’s also got an AMAZING soundtrack.

Totally agree!
Saw your reply and searched for the game, downloaded it and seems to have such a cool vibe from the 00's, even more with the religious theme, going to give it a try, thank you for the "recommendation".

Modern TF2 is basically an abusive relationship I can't stop returning to. I don't even play multiplayer games other than Monster Hunter; it's based on nostalgic 2008 vibes alone.

Also, hated Ancient Roman on PS1 but it's easy to break and has a certain kusoge charm to it, so I beat it anyway. I can't recommend it in good faith but it sure was "memorable".

4/10 graphics(7/10 in PS2)
4/10 gameplay
weird/10 story

Played it a little bit after I went through The Silver Case and 25th Ward. It was a struggle with all the walking and number puzzles, but this moment made it all worth it
If they remaster the PS2 version with a multi-language release, I am willing to go through all of it again.

Yeah that’s a good one for me too. In my backloggd review for it I called it ”the game that doesn’t work until it does” because it had one really good moment for me trying to find a Dratini that was like my favorite moment in any Pokémon gamI think
I think Scarlet/Violet is Pokemon's 'New Vegas,' a broken game with a great one lying underneath.

Speaking of Digimon, I suppose Digimon World 3 fits here. I'm on a new playthrough, and am just about to get to that chunk of the game, where I hate it. Trying to track down the Blue / 8lue Card, let alone the Sepik Mask right after. It involves so, so much running around. I have no idea how Digimon World 2003 players across the pond can stand it, due to the increased encounter rate. Not having a bazillion random encounters makes it somewhat less of a chore.

And then there's the Circuit Board, let alone the Bug Maze, much later on! And the Mobius Desert some time after that chunk! x_x Combined with the sometimes-slow fights and a need to grind, and I am grateful for the fast forward option on emulators. I have no idea how I beat the game on authentic hardware, but I did. I was unleveled, but I did it, and I remember spamming a lot of the revive items.

...I still love this game though. It's coupled in my mind with Digimon Tamers, which it was released to coincide with. I just kinda wish they swapped Monmon for Terriermon so you could get the full Tamers squad, especially as Mon's gun weapons would make sense for Terrier to equip too.

Dawn and Dusk are, in my opinion, the greatest Digimon games that could have been. They just feel incomplete, all my problems with them are due to the decisions made to make them longer than they actually are, I swear, I've never had so much fun with a game like the one I had creating the perfect Digimon through the DNA Evolution mechanics to beat the Platinum Tamer Rank battle.

It actually makes me mad how little it needs to be done to make Dawn and Dusk good and all the potential it had to be great.

The closest to perfection for the DS era is Digimon Story Lost Evolution which is only held back by the lack of DNA Evolution and the god awful Fossil Mini Game.

I actually never beated World 3 back in the day. I tried countless times as a child but I always got stuck and resigned to playing the Card Battle Mini Game, which ended up leading me to play Digimon Digital Card Battle which I love. I plan to return to World 3 someday, the game looks gorgeous and I remember it actually left me speechless back in the day.

Tamers was amazing too! I was obsessed with the show as a child and watched it from start to end way more times than I feel proud of back then. I also plan on watching Tamers again, I hope it is as great as I remember it being!

I've talked about it before, but I have a huge soft spot for janky, Z-Tier PS2 Action Games.

The crazy encounter rate and slow text kept me away from this one too. I think there is a patch pf some sort that combines the PAL and NTSC versions content wise, but I can't quite recall.
