Things you wanna buy... but won't

A Comic and a Book:
The Essential Punisher Volume 4, it's really expensive and shipping to my country is costly asf, but i have the first three and i really like to adquire this someday (even when it's the least strong in terms of writing and art, still have his moments, even when Hugh Haynes arrives and the quality of the book drops immensely).

And this another book: Die Fläche: Desing and Lettering of the Vienna Secession 1902-1911, a complete facsimilar reproduction of the original publication of the Vienna Secession Movement (his strong graphic approach and sense of design seems like a predecessor to the Art Deco Movement, even when it's in the same era as the Art Noveau), with articles about the movement and his artists.

Man, it makes me sad just thinking about all the things I want but just can not justify spending money on.
A no expense spared gaming rig? Sure. A new laptop? Yes. A new chinese retro handheld every two weeks when there's a new one? Yup. A phone? A new car? For sure. A new house? Hell yeah. A new bicycle? Why not throw in a motorbike and a quad while we're at it? Every musical instrument out there? Yes please.
And the list goes on.

On a more grounded note, an mp3 player is sure somewhere on that list but I know I would be happy for about 5 seconds after receiving it and never touching it ever again

I'd also love to have a dedicated MP3 player, but both lugging them around and the cost seems so unnecessary that I hold back on it.

I've got a DS Lite, but really want a DSi. Some romhacks I want to play don't work well on the Lite and my flashcart is starting to act up, so just relying on the DSi's SD card seems way more convenient, but I can't bring myself to get one until my Lite stops working.

Finally, I'd love to have Blu-rays for my favorite movies at hand, but I don't have a player!
i got my LG V30 for 50 bucks on ebay. thing is a power house. its an old phone from 2017 that has a crazy amazing built in DAC that can run my 300ohm Sennheiser headphones no problem. it can even run up to 32bit/192khz audio files (aka pretty damn hi-res)

all for 50 bucks

These are basically the Kamen Rider equivalent of fisher price toys and those crudely made and weak plastic toys you see in the dollar general. They were designed to be marketed to lower income families while at the same time appealing to kids by also having some slight tiny gimmicks within some of the attachments but nowadays they literally go up nearly as much as a CSM all just because of their collectibility 💀

amazing

I can't think of much. Most things I want I've already bought since it's usually smaller stuff. Maybe a new processor and motherboard, trying to play Helldivers 2 on the lowest settings is a rough experience. I don't really game on PC a lot otherwise. I did just buy an 8bitdo mechanical keyboard off of Woot since it's clear green and I'm a sucker for clear plastic gaming stuff. I am considering buying some deck boxes, playmats and sleeves for Magic cards that I really want but it's a pretty nonsense purchase for how little I actually play paper Magic.

Well, one of my hobbies is old cars, both youngtimers/oldtimers. There are a few cars that I can afford to buy, but I don't do that because I know I would have a problem with the cost of maintaining them.

For example: the first Porsche Cayenne S and Porsche Boxster, Ford Probe II, Citroën Traction Avant 11CV, Lancia Delta 1600 GT from 80's or Jaguar XK (X150)

50 bucks on ebay
Getting things like that is difficult for me right now, the cost of shipping is always the break of it. I also am paid very little, so $50 alone is also something I must consider for a handful of months. I feel like I could find cheaper ones though, but seeking them out is something I'd rather do when more comfortable anyway. The one you mentioned does look very nice though.

I really want to spend more on food, clothes, gas, and new pair of socks, that is a luxury I cannot afford right now, there are too many games and new figure releases right now. I normally skipped lunch every Monday to Wednesday but I might need to stretch it to Friday starting next month, the last time I buy clothes was more than 10 years ago, and I have 6 pair of socks and they all got holes on 'em.
In this economy, I gotta focus on what's important first.

The switch 2 due to the sheer price point of the games.

I lost my home in 2020 and was sleeping at train stations for a while too as well as hostels if i need to i can live on canned soup or make pasta on a gas stove if i have to. Your right about focusing on whats important. Gaming and collecting is a luxury for sure.

Woof, that's like how a lot of the old candy toys now go for stupid amounts. Like, the 0 Articulation, solid-plastic figures. Maybe not "Destroy the Bank" levels, but def. Too damn High for the product in question

What are those things that you'd want to buy, but simply won't because they are not what you need right now, seem like a reckless expense, or perhaps you are a little embarrassed by them? Trust me, I have been there.

Right now, I'd really like to hunt down and own an old-school MP3 Player just for the heck of it, even though I know that it'd be horribly inefficient, that it wouldn't give me nearly enough space as I would need to fit my oversized playlist on it, and that it simply wouldn't see much use outside of when I'm running and don't feel like dragging my phone around with me (or when I need an emergency USB stick, which seems to have been the default afterlife for many of those suckers).

I haven't even looked yet, because I can't afford to be that stupid with money. But maaaan, sometimes I really feel like owning one of those sleek little things again. The true "Cool Kid" makers of the aughts.

What about you?
I could tell you I'd like to buy a 24TB hard drive, a curved PC monitor, the entire Urusei Yatsura and Lupin the Third manga, but nothing would make me happier than buying a Sony Trinitron TV, one of those living room ones (even a small one) that I can fit a PS2, PS1, Xbox, and Wii on.

I have always wanted one of the slime controllers ever since the PS2 one came out, but I know I would never actually use it so I never bothered to get one.
That or that katana PS2 Controller

I don't know how it is in your country, but in Poland, you can easily buy a working Trinitron very cheaply. For the equivalent of 55 - 82 $ or 47-70 Euros
