What are those things that you'd want to buy, but simply won't because they are not what you need right now, seem like a reckless expense, or perhaps you are a little embarrassed by them? Trust me, I have been there.

Right now, I'd really like to hunt down and own an old-school MP3 Player just for the heck of it, even though I know that it'd be horribly inefficient, that it wouldn't give me nearly enough space as I would need to fit my oversized playlist on it, and that it simply wouldn't see much use outside of when I'm running and don't feel like dragging my phone around with me (or when I need an emergency USB stick, which seems to have been the default afterlife for many of those suckers).

I haven't even looked yet, because I can't afford to be that stupid with money. But maaaan, sometimes I really feel like owning one of those sleek little things again. The true "Cool Kid" makers of the aughts.

What about you?

The newest QuestVR and the switch 2 for sure, more old school stuff includes a 400 dollar FFV statue that I will never buy but secretly want

vanity purchases, generally speaking
like those old final fantasy vii cold cast statues that released in the late 90s
no reason for me to own them, but they sure do look neat
here is a photo of the vincent from that era
very cozy and time accurate i feel

Various Kamen Rider CSM belts/trinkets. And the CSG weapons that have come out for the Kuuga line.

The collector in me *craves* the shiny plastic and wiring, but the adult in me knows that shit would flatline my bank account faster than the IRS on a bender.

A silly thing I wanted to buy (and I bought it) is a fake tamagotchi on AliExpress: as a child I've never had one (of course lots of people in school had it), and last year I was curious and I thought "I can waste 1 €/$ to see what it looks like". I've used it for a couple of weeks and then sold it.

I hope you can find a very cheap mp3 player, because I feel what you feel, sometimes we just want something for nostalgia or because for some reason we like an old item that we owned or maybe we haven't had when everyone else had it... and if it's not a crazy price maybe we can just say "I don't care, I buy it, even if maybe it's not so useful now!".

I would wanna buy an island and just live there, hell if I could I would buy a spaceship or planet just to live there alone in peace and serenity and.... ahhhh lack of humanity other than you is the best dream possible!!1 lol

Other than these I would wanna buy these just an example:

A zojirushi rice cooker
Maji ka yo? Nanda sore?

Dude I had no idea it existed. I'm just cooking me rice in an ordinary pot lol. It seems like one of those "smartz" oven for... rice lol. Yare yare.

IDK how "smartz" this stuff is. For example depending on the rice you gotta add more water but use less heat and for some rice type you gotta do the opposite. Cooking rice is a serious shit yo lol. But I dislike these automatic stuff because it feels limiting and can't go crazy with my experiments much!!! lol

I also use a cooking pot lol but these ones, are simply the best. I've had many and they all broke down but I had the chance to sit down with a professional Japanese chef and he recommended me this brand. They have a lot of functions built in for different types of rice too

A Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80 Model III.
I always wanted one of these, but they either want an arm and a leg for a non-working one which I actually want, or a fully working one (rare) and they want both legs and a kidney for it.

I really don't need it, and I would just build a sleeper PC inside it, play around with it for a few weeks, maybe a month, and it would collect dust like every other retro thing I buy until I get a wild hair to tinker with it for a few days, and it goes back into storage. ::cirnoshrug

(Still think they are badass as hell looking, but I'm a weird nerd too) ::sailor-embarrassed

Hmm I should try it someday then!!

I'd also love to have a dedicated MP3 player, but both lugging them around and the cost seems so unnecessary that I hold back on it.

I've got a DS Lite, but really want a DSi. Some romhacks I want to play don't work well on the Lite and my flashcart is starting to act up, so just relying on the DSi's SD card seems way more convenient, but I can't bring myself to get one until my Lite stops working.

Finally, I'd love to have Blu-rays for my favorite movies at hand, but I don't have a player!

A new PC for sure, but it's hard to justify dropping the money right now when I have more pressing things I need and the PC I currently have is "good enough". I would pretty much be upgrading for only a handful of games.

A Neo Geo but man.... they are freaking pricey, and the cartridges....
I'd need to mortgage my house to buy more than five good ones

And eBay is full of cheap MP3 players @Waffles hun, you can probably get a box of them now for 10 bucks

I got two entirely luxury greed item ideas. I'd love to get a desktop PC for gaming, and then primarily use my laptop just for writing. My laptop (Acer Nitro) runs things well enough considering I barely play anything on it that came out after 2008, but I still would be nice to have a desktop with more than 150G's of storage space for one; the amount of storage tetris I have to play is insane.

Another would be a new guitar amp. The two I have now are fantastic (Orange Micro Dark and an Orange CR120 head), but they're very much British amps with a fizzy kinda overdrive and that trademark mid thump and not the easiest to get sounding like a more modern metal tone. I'm not sure what specifically I'd get, but something more American/modern voiced. Maybe a Marshall DSL10 head or something, though I prefer to avoid power tubes when possible.

We are at the point where we are now making VR Gloves https://udexreal.com/products/udcap-vr-gloves?variant=45716493992101 They are immensely cool and under $1000 which is amazing considering the platform. The issue is that the Gesture system for keybinds is not entirely there yet and needs a few more iterations before I consider it ready to be purchased.
