I think current situation is a bit different and it's a problme, a lot of these companies seem to have much more ideological motivation than profit currently, else you wouldn't have so many of them keep making these games that take years and years just to lose millions to hundred of millions. They get too much private funding from investors and others that have enough capital to spare and gaming companies losing money to get bought by larger oligarchies is also a thing

Yes they are funded by some sides which is why they include things that clearly none of the game fanbase likes or want , i say we try its well worth it to see how long the industry can keep going at this rate if sales fall hard

i genuinely went in a bit of a fuss over whether i wanted to get a steam deck or switch 2 then i realized that i didnt need to put myself in a false dichotomy and i could just keep emulating games on my computer lol, most id spend would probably be on an xbox controller or something

Outside of studios in the indie space (and even then with some exceptions) I bear no such illusions that companies care. It's all in the bottom line.
