So yeah, the day a lot of gamers (especially XBOX fans) have been dreading had finally came.
For people who don't know, XBOX has been struggling a lot recently, losing even more money than they did before due to the many acquisitions the company made last decade, and because of that, the CEO of XBOX, Asha Sharma, just announced that over 3,000 employees will be fired by the end of the year and... That's it, nothing else negative really.
Two studios are going independent and two other studios are being sold, with other studios currently in negotiations to see how they can survive leaving XBOX, and all games currently in development by these studios will be funded by XBOX until release.
No game cancellations, budget cuts to studios like Mojang and Activision, and a a larger focus on higher quality games from popular franchises (with a few original ideas sprinkled in) to regain the trust of the general public.
Is this all bad news?
Yeah, it definitely, it sucks that over 3,000 people will lose their jobs before the end of the year, don't get me wrong, it's terrible, but it's way better than I expected, leagues better than what the ever actual flying f##k PlayStation has been doing.
I also hope you all have a wonderful day or night too!

Firing the people who makes your games en masse isn't a good sign either, just reflects really poor leadership and short sightedness, how can your employees focus on actually developing their product in this atmosphere

Xbox has turned into Big Brother, where anxiety reigns over which studio will face the firing squad wall each week ::booshy

I'm positive the only reason Bethesda still exists is because Elder Scrolls and Fallout are still worth milking some more.

For what's up been going for the industry as in general I really hope this works out well for Xbox.

Please don't get me started on this, I might rant all day on this. I am just going to summarize what I said in a previous thread.
Ever since 2023, Xbox have been in downward spiral and have bleeding from this more due to the fact that in their infinite shortsightedness increasing Gamepass sales by buying these studios. The results is what we have now, a console that has practically little to no software that is not worth the price of admission even more so now and a bunch of studios that are being sold or spun-off due to highly inflated expectations for infinite money. With what I heard about Minecraft, I can't help but feel sorry for the poor bastards working at Mojang because Mircoslop is going to pull some nonsense that most definitely ruin that game along with the dangling sword of possibly being fired.

Although, I can see somethings could possibly be good in this direction but I am not going to be surprised if it fails spectatuly well. At least with the spun-off companies, there is the added benifit of their games being released on other platforms without the possiblity of the crappy Mircosoft account non-sense. But at least it's better than the absolute insulting of clownry that Sony is currently pulling.

Good God, this genration is just cursed.

I think you meant 2013 when they unveiled the Xbone. They haven't found any footing since then and I'll say it even started to fall apart around the Kinect era.

I have forgotten about that. Although to be fair, I was like nine and didn't know about that console reveal. So let me emend that statement.

Ever since November 4, 2010, when the Kinect was released, the Xbox has been in a downward spiral.

It is actually kind of wild how since 2020 when the pandemic happened all of the awful things about these markets and industries went from slowly getting bad to becoming absolutely abysmal at the speed of light. The past decade or so has been almost nothing but bad news, but the past 6 years have truly been just the worst.

It was planned, no conspiracy they told us they were going to do it and they are doing it.

Dang 9. I was 16 when they announced the WiiU and then a year after PS4-Xbone @E3.
Time sure flies
