I have heard that as well. That's why we never got an updated version of Symphony of the Night or the Silent Hill games. Someone lost the hard drives with the source code long ago.

It is a bit cumbersome to use compared to other flash cards. You have to connect it to your computer with a USB cable and use a special program to move files on and off. You can only have one save game at a time, but you can back it up saves and move them in and out of the flash memory. Despite all the issues, I have used it a lot and beat Final Fantasy using it. It's the only option that I know of but it works.

When a western company had to make the firsr pc port they didnt bother keeping the source code and only had a beta
Then Square e wanted to make a new port for the ps4 and steam and asked for the code to the pc port, they didnt have it

So the steam and ps4 version is a reverse engineered port of the beta, this is why the backrounds are compressed
On the other hand capcom kept the source code for Biohazard 0 so all the backrounds are pristine
Since I did end up getting a Neo Geo Pocket Color when I was in High School and was craving any JRPG content I could reasonable get my hands on back then, yeah, I probably would have picked up a WonderSwan with all that Digimon and Gundam on it. A Gundam youtuber I watched even reviewed one of the Gundam games on it recently and I would love to be able to play it, but I can't read moon language and it's a very niche game that probably won't attract any translators.

Japanese letters is the reason why translating older games was harder.
The Latin and Cyrillic alphabets are made so we need more characters per words whereas Japanese can have a consonant + vowel into one.

Apparently a store near us had one and I would have loved to seal that deal in person, but our new car payments start soon and I’m a rom fiend so I didn’t want to drop the money on it yet. So I’ve asked for it as a gift lol. First games I’d want for it would be Tetris (the swan has an AWESOME Tetris port):
And Dokodemo Hamster (the B&W LCD and Color titles both look sweet):

The wonderswan has a bunch of one piece games that I should try emulating at some point. And one piece games are usually pretty good.

There's a good emulator that does wonderswan. It's lemuroid. I'm sure it works on there
Have you tried it in retroarch? Or standalone? For me, retroarch’s provided core works well. They even have a setting somewhere in there to level the peaking from the swan audio
I need to get a better WonderSwan emulator, I'm still using Oswan.
Then, the GBA happened
