Does anyone here own a Switch Lite?
I don't think I've heard anyone talk about the lite since it came out. I've never held one IRL but from photo comparisons they seem pretty pocketable, looks even viable to bring around with you on the go casually, which is more than what I can say for the proper big boy Switch. If you don't need TV mode or especially if it's gonna be a "secondary system" of sorts, it seems like a pretty neat little console...

But what do you guys think about the Switch Lite?

useless, they should have made a console only variant
Yeah, a "Switch TV" similar to what Sony did with the Vita would be pretty nice, I can't lie
Wish you could use a cable to play it fullscreen without a dock.
I KNOW, RIGHT?? What's crazy to me is that fans have gotten it to output HDMI, so it IS capable of doing so. Maybe they were concerned about thermal performance??

It's our Switch, also because we've been able to find it used - but in perfect condition: it was cheaper, and that price was fine for us.

Now another family member is using it most of the time, but when we got it I've played lots of titles I was curious to try on Switch: since I love playing in portable and I don't care about tv, for me it's great.

I've also been able to try the original Switch: in portable mode, comparing the two, I believe the Lite is better, BUT on both you have to buy those cheap and soft silicone covers, shaped in the rear so the grip is more confortable. At least, after trying both with covers, I think the Lite is more confortable to keep in hand for an hour or two.

The screen is bigger on the original, but side to side it's not much different; for more details about technical specifications, I recommed watching some youtube videos or reading some articles: that's what I did before deciding, and we haven't regretted our purchase.

It's personally my go-to model now that I got a nice deal in a modchip for mine, it's definitely more easy to carry around and the Dpad is a lifesaver since there's so many 2D platformers that I like, the soft feel of the buttons are also more comfortable in my opinion for a dedicated handheld like that, it's a really good model for playing a lot of indie games and it can be 100% perfect for someone that doesn't use the TV like me, but it really SHOULD had the possibility of outputting to one, it's baffling that a PSP can but this just doesn't because papa Nintendo said so.

While I no longer have a Switch Lite, I did at one point, and enjoyed my time with it.

Very nice battery life. Much lighter than the original Switch. And an ACTUAL D-Pad!

It also never seemed to get as hot or as loud as our regular Switch. I only bought one as I suddenly found myself doing a lot of traveling, and didn't want to take the main Switch away from my wife while I was out of the house. It served its purpose well.

Fits nicely on an airplane tray table, too 😉

But if I have to compare it with the other handhelds of the big N and Sony, it's easily a 8-9/10, it's the lightest way of natively playing really massive games and half of the indie library on steam there is on the market, it's the natural evolution of a PSVita.

Since I'm now able to try homebrew, I can also say that it improves it a whole lot more, it can serve as a media player and once emulators improve, it could also serve as a capable emulator handheld, I just hope that Dolphin gets ported one day, since it's totally capable of running GameCube.

I don't really play much of N's modern games anymore, if I do have that itch I'll borrow a friend's console for a day or two. That said, I think the Switch Lite is/was one of the best official handheld console currently available and I enjoyed playing VNs on it. I ended up giving it to a friend and moving to an android handheld since most of what I play are retro titles or streamed from a console or via internet.

I think that they held it back by not including a dock and just the lack of compatible games as more became reliant on motion controls and 3rd-party accessories.
Wish you could use a cable to play it fullscreen without a dock.
You can but only through 3rd-party means via the Super5 HDMI modification.

I got one back when I could afford a console because I wasn't ever going to play it docked anyway, and it was cheaper. It's a nice little console, although sometimes my hands get cramped playing it too long. It's nice and portable as it should be, not particularly pocketable but fits in any bag you might be carrying. Battery life is nice and never really gets too hot. Runs some games quite badly tho, Bloodstained Ritual of the Night was unplayable, and some others just look kinda bad. The price of portability I guess. Also I eventually had to replace the joycon sticks because of drift, put on a pair of chinese hall effect sticks and it's been fine since.

Now, I just want a proper emulation handheld to replace it. Too many old games I'd rather be playing.

Yeah, I only use my Switch dock to charge the console. I only really play it handheld anyway.
I also want an emulation handheld, but most I've seen are a bit too expensive for me hehe

I bought one years ago, tried it as soon as I got home, and... The next day, I rushed back to the store and immediately changed it for a regular Switch: still quite pocketable, even if larger than the Lite, but at least in portable mode you can better see what's on the screen.
