PC The Steam Machine lives!!

TL;DR they are predicting 700$.
Cons: $700

Pros: Deals of a lifetime, NO subscriptions, FREE multiplayer, PORTABILITY, and the ability to have a great console experience with an included desktop environment... also Linux.

You would be a fool to think that this wouldn't sell. Would it dethrone Xbox? Maybe. Would it dethrone Playstation? No. However, the premise is great and I know people who want something like this (I.E, me before dropping $1,500 on a gaming laptop).

To be fair the steam machine will be used to just mod and add games manually from here etc so its not really zero.
Sure you can't play everything as graphics intensive like PS5, but eh.. its a tough call,
i kinda still stand by what i said, for those not PC tech savy and have no interest in big rig setups and the headaches it can bring but instead just fancy the simplicity of a small/compact, easy out of the box experience that can sit in any space, you could do worse. just my own opinion.

Depends if the machine, hardware wise, would withstand a full decade of function and if you could upgrade the hardware without too much hassle.

Will it allow non steam games?

True we don’t know that but since the website says something along the lines of it’s also a PC who are we to tell you how to use it, I assume you could just add non steam games to library? If not then the sales pitch for me is that much more dire.

"Upgradability" was what separated consoles from PC (yes, I know the PS4 Pro, Xbox One S/X and even the Expansion Kit for the N64 were also hardware upgrades but those are a different kind).

I can already tell you that if it uses the same steam os that is in the steam deck then yes, you can use non-steam games, hell you can use pirated games if you want to.

As for the steam machine itself, a important thing to remember here is that the steam machine is NOT made for most of us to use as a main system, it's designed for mini pc users that want more gaming performance, or it's designed for console people who want to get into pc but don't want to build their own and aren't sure where to start with prebuilts.

here comes the angry mop.jpg

It's fine to disagree but keep it civil, everyone.

He's literally trolling over this thing for weeks, and you keep deleting my comments pointing it out.
Report the posts in which he's trolling and we'll take a look.

If you had read what I was saying instead of just deleting it, you would blatantly see that his entire behavior and short responses to other people's comments just goes in circles, points to bad faith scenarios and comparisons, and he is ultimately arguing that people would be better off not buying this thing.

He is complaining and trolling. It is blatant.

He clearly doesn't like the Steam Machine, and dunks on it with nonsense, bad faith and arguably dumb questions. Over and over again, looking at the downside of things. The classic textbook trolling aspect comes into it because he ignores feedback, cherry picks responses, and repeats the cycle of bad faith nonsense.

I did read what you said. As far as I'm concerned not liking something, Steam machine in this case, is not against the rules. Neither is being of the opinion that people shouldn't buy it.

If you think Ikagura is trolling then report the offending posts so that we can take a look at them.

There are just 8 of us mods here versus almost 900K users. It's literally impossible for us to scour every single thread and post to spot trolls. That's why the report function is there - to make things easier for all of us.

Instead, you chose to mouth off and hurl insults at Ikagura and it made you look like the bad guy here. And it's not the first time either.

For the last time - if you think someone's trolling report, report, report.

I don't think there's anything more to say on the matter so if we could return to the topic at hand that would be great.

Because who is this device for?

This is a system that is a lot more money and less power than a PS5 - So console users and new gamers probably wont be intrested.

So this is for people who have steam libraries already on their PC's. These people also need to have a PC at a lower spec than the Steam Machine, and who don't want to spend the ~£800 on upgrading their computers and buy a fixed spec TV system instead.

You have to give up the upgradablity of a PC and extra functions provided by a PC like VGA, more USB slots, etc.

To me that's not really a noteworth market size.
Dawg... I was the one sayin all of that originally are you seriously telling me you just responded to my comments originally to just repeat my points back at me???

That's one way to communicate

If they were your points, why were you arguing with me?

What you’re claiming makes no sense
