Cartoons The Simpsons

I used to watch The Simpsons way back in the day. I prefer the games over the show now.

Wow, there was some kind of continuity in the show back then (Season 2 referencing a side character from the first season):

Me, always a place in my heart for The Simpsons and I was watching it a few hours ago while eating, I have Season 1-7 downloaded here (I plan on getting the DVDs) and watch it with every evening meal as a ritual haha.

God I miss sneed posting. It really was the last great (and somewhat enduring) meme to come out of 4chan.

I remember watching the Simpsons movie in the cinema, but that's really it- and I only watched it because everyone else in high school had. It was a cultural moment.
Hit & Run was one of my favourite childhood games for the PS2.
But as for the show itself? What I do fondly recall all comes from Seasons 1-9.

No I'm not just doing the meme, every fond memory comes from the original pre-2000nds run.
Even my enjoyment of it and Run comes from how lovingly it integrated the shows legacy.

I would argue Futurama is better but 💀 That ship sailed after its second resurrection.
Sometimes dead is better.

I've barely played it but I'd love to try.

I agree that as a whole Futurama is the better of the two shows. When was that second resurrection by the way? I've always considered the movies as their own side stories while the show ended with that episode about Fry getting the Devil's hands to play the Holophonor (although the "Overclockwise" ending was also neat and not trying too hard to be epic).

When was that second resurrection by the way?
The first was for the trilogy of films in 2008.
Then we got season 6 & 7 in 2010.
Then Disney+/Hulu brought it back in 2023.

I tapped out after the films, the ending of Into the Wild Green Yonder was perfect.
What came after couldn't decide whether it wanted to continue building the character drama or spin its wheels half-returning the previous status quo.

I like lore videos (even if the show's is all over the place).

As much as I love the Simpsons, I've watched since the Tracy Ullman show and I
know who Sea Captain McAllister is, it is time unfortunately to old Yeller the franchise.

Hell yeah! Still watching them!
No need to say anything else... 😁

I have finished watching Season 2 and I'll do Season 3 right away.

The Michael Jackson episode was quite iconic.

I just finished watching a modern episode and I'm soooooo confused.

What the HELL happened to Comic Book Guy? Is he still a joke? Feels like it, but also like they are apologizing for him.

The bullies are ridiculous now, as is pretty much any interesting character.

I only catch the show whenever it was on back then, though it's really ingrained on pop culture that even if you don't pay attention. the memes, clips and quotes from it will naturally come your way.::homerscream
Some even say it has future predictions that came true.

The Simpsons Arcade is Great though!::happyadvisor

Season 32.
Oh okay. Some people consider that post-Season 10 is modern (or 11 if you count 2000 as the tail end).

Or that moment when Skinner was revealed to be an impostor (S9E2)...

I consider that Modern Simpsons kinda started when they went widescreen (in HD). I do like the idea of post-Movie (in 2008) to be the moment they went modern.

An interesting chart:

Who's still watching The Simpsons? I don't think I'll ever stop watching this show... it's been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and a staple of each and every weekend since my kindergarten days (there's a huge, six-hour-long block that plays nothing but Simpsons reruns each Saturday, with new episodes premiering on Sunday).

The current quality of the show is debatable, but its cultural impact certainly isn't. And, frankly, having it as the "ice-breaker" topic completely outweighs the shifting quality in my book. There's always a reference you can throw and someone who would get it. That's priceless.

I forgot to post that rating board!

I notice that S6E3 got a mediocre rating, what happened?

And I'm surprised to see a nice score for S33E2 and S34E5.

Is there an objective list of the top 20 episodes of the entire show?
