Cartoons The Simpsons

The "true" decline started when Mike Scully became showrunner, which is season 9. I wouldn't say any specific episode is the catalyst, but him taking over sees the series shifting tons of element at the same time such as tone, joke structure, characterization among other things.
I'll have to check some of the episodes then.

I just watch it for the porn parodies tbh

I still watch it since the series and it was popular when I was born, so I don't want to miss out. I played all the games, read some of the comics, and met Nancy Cartrwright,. But I should think It the show should just end with a Disney+ exclusive movie and have the staff and cast move on to do other things.

I've watched plenty of newer Simpsons as they are sometimes on TV channels over here (or were, at least) but I stopped bothering a long time ago and I'd rather watch any other thing. I still sometimes watch stuff from seasons 1-8, which will always be peak.

It's rather intriguing how in my country our original Homer voice actor passed away almost at the same time that the show began its decline in quality

Im subscribed to a Simpsons youtuber called max power

I haven't really gone out of my way to watch much modern Simpsons, but quotes and jokes from the show's heyday probably makes up about 40% of my brain.

I stopped watching like 20 years ago now, they just haven't been the same, the quality kept going on a downwards spiral and I sort of gave up. The fact I can say I quit them 20 years ago and they're still going on is honestly a very shocking thing. I've seen some newer episodes over the years, and it feels like it written by AI (and this was before AI)

I still do. Still watch it even as background noise when I'm doing other stuff. Growing up with this and King of The Hill, I still watch both. (Still excited for the KOTH revival coming to Hulu soon). Now call me "Ol' Fashioned" (Which is the nice way calling someone OLD), but I'm one of those who think the show dipped in quality after season 14. The movie is great still and worth a watch, the newer seasons proceeding that though? Well, you can blame Disney for the dip.

The games, and I mean ALL of them, are really a huge mixed bag. You got all the NES and Super Nintendo games (which all starred Bart as the main and featured him versing someone/something or just had him going on his own platformer adventure), which were, even for the time, mediocre and blasé at "best".

Then the Arcade, which we can all here agree that that's the pinnacle of Simpsons gaming.

Then you got games like Road Rage (Crazy Taxi clone and an okay one at that), Skateboarding (Yep), and even a GTA-like (Hit & Run, anyone?).

Then in comes the movie tie-in. Which if any of you had played it. and at this point would be impossible since it was released on almost "EVERY" platform ever, (including the commodore 64, of all things, but not modern PC [LOL]).

The show still has a place in my heart after all these years and I'll even try to catch a newer episode here and there, but as for me? The older seasons are where it's at. The show's been going on for so long and with Fox announcing 4 more seasons of it?? How much milk does Homer have in those udders for them to keep pumping out more stories of those jaundice patients?

Sorry for the long post, I just like the show is all.

It's actually written by Twitter now, as casually thrown by showrunner/writer Mike Reiss in his book "Springfield Confidential".

They sometimes recruit writers in there "because of their ability to deliver quick, witty jabs in short sentences".

And boy does that explain a lot.

Wow I was banking on AI being the reason for their uncreative, or in this case for them, their lack-of, writing in general.

This is why I'm part of the very many in the fan base that wants the show to finally wrap it up. Another movie at least.
