for me, the season of retro game playing is upon us
why? it gets up to 38c in the summer time where i live and as i do not have air conditioning, things get very toasty
during this season, i play modern gameszors on my computer rather rarely, as the additional heat provided by my computer while it runs hardware intensive games is not welcome
so the majority of the time i find myself sitting cross legged on the floor with a fan pointed at me, surrounded by cold lemon waters, playing games on everything from the saturn and dreamcast to pc engine and playstation as those consoles generate virtually no heat compared my large computer

do any of you live in this style? are there any given seasons that you find yourself playing older games much more in?

I used to live in a itty bitty apartment and would avoid more substantial PC games in the brunt of summer the same way. Weird how much a machine can heat up a room.

Luckily, this was around the time the Wii U was out so I was on MK8 online all throughout that summer.

Kind of? I live relatively north, so things never get so bad that I need to worry about overheating to the point I get heatstroke. But I do find myself using my handhelds more often in the summer, because loud noises (such as a fan kicking up a little because it's serval degrees hotter than usual) irritate the hell out of me.

Come to think of it, that's probably why I used to use the PS3 after dark, back when.

I guess I had this when I first found about emulation. That summer I downloaded some sketchy emulator with roms included and played a lot of Animal Crossing Wild World and a lot of NES games.

I don't know why I never attempted to do this before. Every summer it would always get hot, then my Playstation would get incredibly loud, then it would heat up the room making it even hotter and I would have to turn it off from the sound of the fan and from the increasing temperature in the room.
