Solved the repo download High-risk security? Does anyone know why?

If u tried to download a game in The Repo, your browser detected something, like, it was a virus (which is not).

Idk how to explain it
Oh yeah, this kind of thing has been happening on a lot of ROM sites lately. I have no idea why, but I think it definitely has something to do with Nintendo.

In our case it was expired SSL certificates. it's the "s" on http(s).
All download links use https but if the cert is expired the browser shows that warning.
It has got nothing to do with anyone else but a configuration issue on our servers.
No external factors involved.
All certs have been renewed and auto renewals is working now so won't happen again.
I'm closing this one. Thanks for reporting.

Good evening, I've encountered a problem. I wanted to download Dragon Quest 4 for the Nintendo DS and then I got this message saying there was a data protection error. I have no idea what this is all about??? Oh this EU and its shitty laws are really getting on my nerves.

I *think* it has something to do with outdated certificates on our end. Don't worry about it -- I have bypassed it and it gave me no further trouble.

Sounds like you ran into a region-based restriction. The EU’s data protection laws (like GDPR) can sometimes block access to certain downloads, especially if the site isn’t compliant. You might need a workaround like a different mirror or a VPN or simply just refresh the page and try the link again.

I deactivated Google Play Protect and then suddenly it worked.
Everything seems to be back to normal. I hope it stays that way. Thanks for your feedback.
Ahhh, that could be.

For example, with the security setting "Safe Browsing" that comes in Chrome and derivatives, they monitor and filter the websites and downloads you try to access, and with that they decide what is safe and what's not for you.

I'd disable it for (some) privacy and freedom.

Yeah Chrome wants to control you but you can't let google do this.

@Spike When you get a chance, could you renew the TLS certificates for dl1.retrogametalk.com and dl4d.retrogametalk.com? Both subdomains appear to have expired certificates as of 8/26/2025.
