I was heading home, minding my own business, when I got stuck at an intersection with a girl about fifteen (if that).

At first, I didn't think anything of it - I get "glued" to random strangers all the time while waiting for the roads to clear, but she kept giving me these anxious sideways glances and seemed to be in a complete hurry to get untangled from the spot.

She was carrying her backpack, so she was probably eager to get home and be done with the biggest drag of her day - been there myself, I get it.

But then, when we started heading in the same direction again, she took off like a rocket, legs in overdrive and backpack swinging wildly against her spine. I was STILL willing to chalk it up to her being a kid and wanting to switch back into "kid mode" after a whole day of classrooms and rules, but the whole thing was starting to feel incredibly odd.

Then, because my own legs are stamina factories, I caught up to her AGAIN, and this is where it got not just odd, but plain weird.

She stopped in her tracks for, like, a microsecond, then - I kid you not - she BOUNCED IN PLACE twice and reached fucking Mach I on the sidewalk - I had never seen anyone move that fast without a motorized vehicle or a fire on their ass.

And, just to sell the complete absurdity of the situation, I happen to know where she lives because we are neighbors (hence me heading in the same direction the whole time). And let me tell you: in the maybe five seconds it took me to reach the end of the street after she did, she was already inside, locked in, and likely in her room.

Man, I know younger generations tend to be mocked for extreme paranoia... but this is record-breaking.

Almost can't wait to find her again just to see what would happen next xD

I may could be that girl when i was younger. I was (and still am) unaware of stay still due to my hyperactivity.

Maybe... but it feels like one hell of an overreaction on her part, considering I didn't talk to, touch or even look at her the entire time.

I'm afraid her parents are raising a future tinfoil hat.

I haven't taken off my tinfoil hat since the 2000's and a lot more people agree with me now than then. :loldog

It was certainly odd. While feeling anxious around people isn't particularly uncommon, running away from them for no apparent reason is strange. We all live in a society where interaction with others is inevitable. I worry about this girl's mental health.

I feel that, I kicked some kid's bike tire after he almost ran into me when I was little and he threatened me with the usual "I know where you live" nonsense which just about everyone says but nobody means before taking off again. I kid you not, not too long after I get home he and his mom show up at my door. If that's not mortifying I don't know what is. Needless to say I get a little worried when I see someone tailing me for an extended period of time.

That's really fucked up, The Sheep.

Did they say anything else to you or did they just stand there like a couple of zombies?

She is definitely mentally ill and needs treatment

I'm sorry to have to be the one to tell you this, but clearly you give off an incredibly creepy vibe.

I mean… they were still on it when I kicked it. In my defense though it wasn’t very hard and the sidewalk was more than wide enough for them to not almost run into me.
Still a vast overreaction on their part.

Well can't blame her though. Ended up with that same stranger over and over would freak me out espescially after i ran away from them.

I usually just go random sideways or alley literally changing my usual route just to make sure that somone wasn't a weirdo
