Yeah. Back then "never hit a woman" philosophy was a huge thing so it wouldn't be usual in movies to see man characters disarm even a criminal woman with "pacific" options. Because of this BS we even saw the huge irony of a man beating a woman by using the body of another woman as a weapon as if it makes things better!!!! lolol:

The whole point of that scene from Romeo Must Die was to make fun of the very thing you mentioned. Aaliyah's character Trish even points it out directly.

Aaliyah ::heart

Good point. Now I realize why I couldn't grab the female enemies in Batman Forever Arcade the other day. I promise i wasn't gonna throw Sugar. I just wanted to hold her ever since I was kid. Spice on the other hand? She would've liked it.

What is it with 90s beat 'em ups on Nintendo consoles not allowing you to beat up women? This game, Final Fight 1 & 2. I know this was due to their infamous censorship practices at the time, but did they seriously think that people would get offended by it?

Street Fighter 2 came out a couple years prior to this game nobody complained about Ryu beating up Chun-Li. People were just too busy having fun (And yes, I'm aware that it's not a beat 'em up, but my point still stands). Heck, Sega had Streets of Rage 1 & 2 and I doubt anyone complained about Axel fighting any of the female enemies from those games.

Well as a game it is great especially in the gameplay that is responsive such as the possibility of making continuous attacks and thus the possibility of making the Blaster that serves as a kind of bomb to clean or weaken enemies, very good graphics for a 1994 SFC/SNES standards has a good level of detail of the scenarios and sprites and as well as the animations of both, an amazing soundtrack and good sound effects for a game developed by Natsume but also that it is not an easy game but not impossible because you have to take good care of yourself in the confrontations against the enemies and so also against the bosses at each level and so also that there are not many medkits in the levels and even that your only life in the game is your energy bar and if you lose it all you lose the game and start the level from the beginning and also with this Romhack that is a solid restoration that adds or replaces female enemies as in the Japanese version of the game and gives you more variety of enemies in the game and that's fine.
