From everything I watched recently these three stood out the most:
Don't Look Now is a very surreal but intriguing story about grief. Its beautifuly shot, well acted and has some interesting editing and camera techniques
(you'll know what I mean if you watch it). Beware of a way too long and detailed sex scene though, I sat through it but kinda wish I didn't.
A Tale of Two Sisters is another story about grief and processing it
(I'm into sad movies, what can I say). Despite some horror elements, which are striking and very well done, this movie looks and sounds like a lighthearted melodrama and I love that. It pulls you in with its slow pace, mystery and atmosphere if you let it. Now I want to watch the american "remake" called The Uninvited to compare the two, and I think I already know what my takeaway would be, lol.
Girl, Interrupted features Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie as mentally unstable girls stuck in psych ward, for different reasons. I liked how throughout the movie we get to know these two as well as other characters, which makes this unplesant place feel cozy and familiar to the point that you almost don't want to leave, just like the main character. It resonated with me on many different levels and that's why I liked it so much, but sentimentality aside its just a well made movie based on a good story. What else do you need?
