I just ordered an AYN Thor and I'm excited for it to get here so I wanted to talk about it.
This might be my endgame handheld. I'm a big fan of the clamshell design ever since the SP and DS days. I love my RG35xxSP but the screen is just a bit small and it only plays up through PS1. Its great for pocketability though.
But the Thor looks like it can do everything an Odin 2 can do and more:

Emulate everything through Switch and even some PS3
Lightweight Steam games (with Steam cloud saves) via Gamehub
DS and 3DS the way they are meant to be played
Game streaming from my PC with very low latency
Android games

All while being (mostly) pocketable in a clamshell design with 1080p AMOLED screens!
Okay, sorry if I'm starting to sound like a shill. No device is perfect and I'm sure there will be gripes once I have it in my hand. I'm just excited.

Anyone else getting one?

The device is worth its weight in gold but what does the device cost because the video doesn't say anything about the price?

The first link in my post is to AYN's site.
Its not super cheap but its a lot cheaper than the Windows handhelds that have been coming out recently. $249 usd for the cheapest model, then there's $299/$349/$429 models. I would highly suggest at least the $299 as the cheapest model has a much weaker CPU in it (all other models have the Snapdragon 8 gen 2).

Odin 2 Portal is nice, but doesn't live up to the switch emulation hype. It's a buggy mess with tons of crashes...and I have yet to see a ps3 game successfully running on my odin. I've tried the lightest weight of games too...Crystal Defenders on PS3. It's a great handheld but don't expect to be running PS3 games flawlessly. Same with switch games although you can get them running full speed or close to full speed, tons of crashes and graphical bugs though.

Everything before PS3 and Switch though runs oh so fine. <3

Thanks for the info!
I don't know a lot about Switch emulation on Android yet. Are you using Eden with the custom Turnip drivers on your Odin 2?

Good luck there, one thing I can recommend is that you create a library of games that you like.

I'm reading into your post that you're incredibly excited for the device rather than you being a shill so no worries there! It sounds pretty cool and based on early reviews that I've seen, it seems to be a very impressive device.

Although I'm not getting one personally right now, I'm happy for you and hope that the device meets your needs and expectations! Be sure to follow up on your post once you get it and when you've tried it out for a while as I'd love to hear your thoughts.

What I saw in the video is enough for me to say that the device is worth its money.

I thought this was gonna be about the Norse god :loldog

I gotta say, the device looks incredibly sleek.

Yeah I'll definitely report back once I get it all set up and running.
Tinkering with it will be half the fun, fortunately for me there are some great how-to guides out there already.

I wanted to follow up with you on your experience with the Thor. Do you have your unit yet and how are things going with your new handheld?

Sorry, I meant to get back to this thread sooner.
Yes I got my Thor and I really like it a lot! The way they set up the software to handle the dual screens is really well done imo. The size is good and I have no real complaints about the hardware (The triggers could be shaped a little better but thats a nitpick and its not that bad).

I spent a few days tinkering and re-tinkering with things. It takes awhile to get all the emulators set up. YouTube guides like this one help a lot.

The Thor has played most Switch Games I've thrown at it. Certain games like Metroid Dread and Mario Wonder run great which really surprised me. Some heavier games don't run well of course. I'm using the Eden Emulator which will allow you to download custom "Turnip Mr Purple" drivers directly through the emulator to make things run better, which is very nice.

3DS and DS run very well. Not always 100% perfect of course but very well.
Its so nice to play them on the dual screens with touch support -- it almost tricks your brain into thinking you're playing on original hardware (except with big beautiful OLED screens lol)

I tried Gamehub Lite for Steam games. I did get some Steam games to play, but several others did not. Gamehub is pretty new and theres lots of room for improvement though and the Thor hardware is up to the task so I'm hopeful things will continue to improve. Right now if a game doesnt work you can tinker with a bunch of settings but I dont really fool around with all that. I played Silksong and it ran fine but it didn't have my cloud saves. Every other Steam game that ran DID have my saves though: I played 30xx, Infernax, Sea of Stars, and The Messenger with my cloud saves.

Overall, I think this thing is my "endgame" handheld. At least for the forseeable future.
It plays everything I want it to and its still fairly pocketable.
Highly recommended.

I have a second screen accessory for my Retroid Pocket 5 that I haven't tried yet, but it won't be quite as nice as this. I'm a bit jealous LOL. I do have an actual 3ds though, so it's not too bad. And I have the Odin2 Portal portal as well. You've got everything in one device though, the power and the second screen. That's pretty sweet.

I really like the devices from this company and the Retroid Pockets are great too.
