The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (2026)

It's mostly implied (nothing explicitly stated) but I'm glad to see the protagonist of a previous game.

In Wind Waker you see the Hero of Time only as a statue in the sunken Hyrule Castle's main room which makes sense as he came back to his timeline, thus Twilight Princess featuring him as a ghost.

I should've put that in spoiler but I guess that it doesn't affect the game that much.

The WW one was great to see as a kid. It filled me with wonder seeing the statue and what the rest of his life might have been like. I watched the first minute or so of the fan-series you mentioned and it looks great. I'll check out the rest when I get home.

Nintendo is risk averse and taking a conservative approach to easy money making.

Release a live action Zelda movie.
Release an updated Ocarina of Time. (Sell more Switch 2 hardware.)

Zelda is the safe choice with brand name recognition. Fans are around 40 years old. Take their money Nintendo.

Will there be a pre-order for a collectors edition?

The remake of OoT isn't taking risks (unless they would change some stuff about the story) but how is making a live action movie "risk averse"? It's one of the most risky move to be done when we know the track record of live action video game adaptions and how much money that usually requires.

Zelda fans aren't always around 40 because some may have discovered the series with newer entries.

I just don't know what they could add to this game to make it better than what it already was. I'm sure it'll be an unoffensive, fine experience for younger fans and people who are afraid of old games.

Idk about y'all but I don't have a ton of money to be throwing at games and consoles that are just fine. It'll be a skip for me unless a Switch2 flies off a truck and into my yard.

I find it hard to get hyped. Link, as a character design, just looks odd proportion-wise. As far as a reveal trailer...it sucked.

Every Zelda reveal trailer since the original Ocarina of Time has shown Link doing interesting in-game things: He rides a horse/boat/bird. He runs around. He meets Zelda. He fights a bunch of enemies. We see gameplay mechanics (everything from jumping off a horse to slow-mo fire an arrow to hookshot across a chasm to reversing time to ride a fallen stone back into the sky). Heck, all the reveals up to Skyward Sword had used the same epic music for the reveals.

What did we get with Ocarina of Time?

A voiced narration of the opening of the original game with a faux-painting background about the Kokiri and a boy who didn't have fairy, and Link asleep. That's it. The first ten seconds of the original game. It's designed to invoke nostalgia for past players but does nothing of note for new players, or players who want more information.

We have no idea if Ocarina of Time will follow the original Zelda formula, if it'll use BotW's style, a combination, or something totally different. We don't see how he moves. We don't see how he fights. We don't see gameplay mechanics. We don't see if he'll use the classic items or not. If it wasn't for the "2026" release date (likely meaning December 26th, like Skyward Sword) then I wouldn't expect the game until 2030 given that opening.

I have never actually played it (Nintendo 64 emulation didn't like me ^^U) maybe it's time.

I use RMG myself, it's a very good emulator IMO.

Most people will avoid reviews and spoilers and the 40something parent will take the kids because it's a family friendly movie. Brand recognition alone will bring people to spend money on the "FIRST ZELDA MOVIE" on the big screen.

Zelda prints money for nintendo.
