The greatest non-anime cartoon shows of all time

Tiny Toon Adventures, which raised the bar for animated series

Same for Animaniacs, though with fluctuations in quality

Taz-mania is another solid series based on LT characters

Pinky and the Brain TV series (minus last season)

Most of Disney Afternoon series

Count Duckula

Watership Down TV series. More kid friendly adaptation of the novel, but decent

The Animals of Farthing Wood. One of the best series based on a novel, with some changes. Serious in some moments too.

Reboot is better, but the original is a classic

Reboot actually borrowed a lot more stuff from the comics than the original did. Ducktales was never about recreating the comic incarnations anyway so it's irrelevant. I didn't like the reboot's finale though. The show glazed Webby a bit too much and I didn't like the finale focusing so much on her. Frankly the season 1 finale was the best one the show had. Still, while I certainly can criticize aspects of the reboot it was still incredibly entertaining overall and will probably age better than the original which already feels dated.

It may have borrowed but does not follow the narrative as it focuses more on the kids. There Scrooge and Donald are rather side characters.

80s series focuses more on Scrooge. Which is also why villains like the Beagle Boys and Glomgold are much better there.

My biggest complaint was that in the Reboot in order to make the kids stand out more, they turned the above villains into dumb comic relief characters. Same with Steelbeak, when Darkwing Duck joined.

This is why 80s series follow more the comic narrative, though there instead of Ma Beagle, there is Grandpa Beagle who is even meaner and more stories were about John D. Rockerduck instead of Glomgold.

Only Magica gets the proper treatment, though there I also prefer the 80s version and voice actress.

If comics Beagle Boys and Rockerduck were as dumb as in the Reboot, I'd have stopped reading.

Reboot is way too edgy when it comes to the 3 siblings and Webby.

they were so worried about making the ducks more relatable in the reboot to gen Z that they made them obnoxious. It's like a modern equivalent to the Quack Pack. Also the nephews no longer sound like ducks. It's so wrong, dammit!

Yes, it was quite a shock to go from the known voice actors of the classics, Russi Taylor and even the Quack Pack ladies to those voices.

some of the original Ducktales main writers were active since the 1950s-60s under the influence of the classic animation directors. They knew best what makes a cartoon great

Reboot writers were rather inexperienced and partook only on some 2010s productions prior to it
