Driver 2, the first game that I played on the ps1, it was amazing, it felt like a Hollywood action driving film. The gameplay was amazing even to this day, the collisions felt realistic at the time, the police were annoying which in my opinion is what made the game fun, the cutscenes were amazing and felt like you were in a movie. The 70s atmosphere made the game feel great with cars like the Chevelle, Caprice, And the Pontiac Trans Am that made it feel more like a 70s action movie. I’m actually a Gen Z’er, but I was obsessed with retro stuff even though I was never born at that era. The first driver though, wasn’t as interesting as the second one, it doesn’t have the cinematic feel of Driver 2, but it is pretty good.
I played Driv3r for a while, it was interesting, but it wasn’t as good as driver 2, the shooting mechanic made it feel like a GTA clone, but the driving and graphics were great, other than that, the game feels like an unfinished GTA clone.
Driver parallel lines was pretty great, the shooting which was TRASH in the last game was fixed and made better, the driving felt great, and the cinematic feel of driver 2 was back, it was set in the 70s again which was great, the game overall was good, but it lost the driver feel and personality.
Driver San Francisco, it was weird and great at the same time, the shifting mechanic made me have the shortest attention span in chase missions, the story was good but twisted, it was great overall, it had 140 vehicles, I’m talking sedans, SUVs, super cars, trucks, pickups, buses too, etc. That made the game feel more immersive. It was great, and I wish that reflections would release another driver game.
And if someone has another opinion then let’s discuss it, thank you.
