Forum Game The great RGT game save relay!

A long time ago a friend of mine and I used to do something, way back when we were first discovering emulation: for certain games, we'd share a single save file and pass it to each other each week, incrementally progressing until the game was finished.

I can't remember with exact precision, but Ogre Battle and Final Fantasy 6 were two of the games we cleared through this kind of incremental relay.

So here's the proposal: would you guys like to have this on RGT? obviously there would be no pressure whatsoever nor there would be deadlines and participation would be entirely optional. If there is enough interest, I'll implement a simple voting system from within this thread, and we'll see where it goes.

Here's the outline:

1) A game is chosen.
2) A common emulator is chosen.
3) Game saves should be DMed to a moderator, along with details about the point in the game in which it was made.
4) The moderator will then make the save file public within this thread so that the next participant can take over.

I'm down to it, but if mirroring the Nostalgia Society poll event I'll be playing only the games I'm interested in... that is, only 2D or early lowpoly games.

I'm not saying I'd have time to throw in but this sounds adorable as heck so, I've gotta say "yes, okay people should do this thing."

Also, Duckstation has my vote for emulator of choice for at least LInux and Windows support. I assume Mac, too.

It will depend on the game chosen if this gets off the ground, yes. For PS1, Duckstation has zero competition, realistically.

So presumably if i send like my digital devil saga save or savestate you guys can play it using my progress?

Or if i sent my covenant plume save you guys can start with new game+ and try the game in easy mode.

I will make an unofficial Discord server for RGT Game Nights! We gotta decide on the games, or we could just play jackbox party games or something.

Edit- Screw it, I'll just announce all my plans in this post to make RGT more fun:

Polls will be changed in sticky threads every once in a while! Sick of the same poll for months?! SAME!

When new games come out, or a romhack gets popular, then threads about those games will be stickied until the hype dies down!

I recommend sharing them as save files instead of save-states, because they are more portable (sometimes even between different emulators), and have safer format (no possibility of malware infection).
