Back in the late 90s and early 2000s mascots games were all the rage. Kids would swear allegiance to one game series and wage war on the others.
Whether you liked the wackiness of Crash, the edge of Jak, the wit of Sly, the guns of Ratchet, the whimsy of Spyro, or any of the plethora of others, most of us had that one series that we held extra close to our hearts.

Which "mascot" series was your favorite?
Mine was definitely Jak and Daxter. Even though there are only a handful of games, and they vary in quality like a rollercoaster, I was totally hooked by the intriguing story, the rad designs and the cool tough-as-nails attitude.

I'm replaying Ratchet and Clank 1 right now and I'm impressed with how well it holds up, aside from the potty humor. Also, was this the game that invented the weapon wheel? Major kudos if so.

Klonoa because the entire franchise is a work art.
Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 for still having an more ambitious story that any Super Mario game, 25 years later.
Sly Cooper for its diverse gameplay.

I would mention Jax & Daxter but that would show my... Biases

Damn knife eared women. Elves, Eldar, Drukhari, Yordles. Stop it.

And I never really considered Rachet & Clank as a 3D platformer, It always felt like a third person run & gun shooter to me.

I think Ratchet & Clank. I can't think of too many games that combine 3D platforming and 3rd-person shooting in such a fun way. Especially when the series introduced light RPG elements and you could level up & upgrade your guns.

I will say I love most, if not all, of them though. I'm still waiting on a new game for Spyro, Sly & Jak! I'd say Crash too, but "It's About Time" was recent enough for me that I'm ok waiting longer.

That’s my favorite ps2 game of all time. Means the world to me.

I'm a longtime fan of the Jak and Daxter series, with a particular fondness for The Precursor Legacy and Jak II. Both titles left a lasting impression on me and continue to stand out as highlights of the franchise.

Call me vanilla, but it was always Mario for me. I did have a great time with Voodoo Vince though.
Nothing wrong with that! I'd personally love a new Mario Sunshine if we're talking around that era

When I think back on those days; I guess for me the 2 mascot characters I loved the most would've been Mario and Sonic, maybe a bit of a cliche answer I know, but they honestly were 2 of my favorite series back in the GameCube era. As for what one I'd pick? I feel like I enjoyed more Mario games BUT Sonic was one of the few series that inspired me as a kid to draw my own OC's and write my own stories for them (Yes, I was one of those kids), So I guess taking that into account, I'll say Sonic.
