The great joystick debate!

Which type of joystick do you prefer?
Do you prefer the firm and sturdy Bat Top joystick?
Or do you prefer the more versatile Ball Top joystick?​

i would say that it depends on the machine. cause to me they fit the aesthetic depending of wich machine but generally i prefer the ball

Anecdotally speaking, I switched from ball to bat top for fighting games, and I seemed to be more consistent after the swap. I made this change a number of years ago.

The combo I was having trouble with was Urien's "Tackle, Tackle, Headbutt" combo in Street Fighter 3rd Strike. It felt more natural/comfortable on my hands to move the bat top from left to right quickly compared to the ball top.

For other arcade games like platformers and shmups, I don't have as much of a preference.

Bat top feels way more comfortable to me but I can't quite place why. Motions in fighting games feel so natural/intuitive on bat top.

Ball. That's what I use at home, anyway. The barcades around me use a mix depending on the actual cabinet, so I'll put up with bat but I long for the ball top.
