GBA The GBA advertising was something... Special?

I suspect that's another case of corporate firing all the creatives and replacing them with analysts.
Hmm kinda yeah because they think "we already have enough data to predict customers and we all know what they actually want" so they literally using their ignorance as mathematical formula and they calculate how much they think they will sell.

Companies always need creative people but they thought they only needed them when video game industry was "unknown" to them. Now they don't see it's still a jungle so they don't realize how they talk in a circle because they analyze how trees looks like, not trying to care where they going and how to be ensure of their path and all lol.

The last GBA on and the three playstation ones someone else posted are genuinely unhiged. Nowadays companies would never even think of doing something even remotely similar to these ads.
How can the world change so much in 20 years?

They went as far as they could without getting into trouble. Although sometimes they really pushed the envelope hard. Remember that Sega joystick ad? And the Eagle Max ad? Drop the load? Yeah. Umm... :loldog

I see ads on social media a lot like some random OnlyFans woman and their "Switch or me or both? Which one you can handle?" BS lolol.
Switch every single time.

I mean, look at some of the current meltdowns over American Eagle and Dunkin' ads. These people wouldn't have survived the '90s and early '00s.

it was another time.

It's not just nostalgia, video game advertising was so much better back then. I rarely, if ever, even see commercials for video games anymore.
Corporate advertising don't want to be creative anymore and just be very basic to save money and not to confused consumers with weirdness.

I remember some magazine ads

Don't you think they were sublime?
Sorry but I'm not fan of Nintendo trying to be edgy when their Japanese marketing was memorable and aged well.

This screams "how do you do fellow kids".

The logic behind it from what I imagine is the ads are combining reality with the world of video games. You are taking a handheld with you everywhere you go, therefore taking with you the adventure in the palm of your hand.

Man, these ads are great. They definitely got your attention!

There was also this drive to make video games "cool" instead of nerdy or weird.
