I think it doesnt have to be restrictive for being creative . Problem is , he is always seen as someone who "elevates" videogames as something more ( becoming movies lately ) which already is absolute clowns-show idiotic .Hideo Kojima made a positive mark in the industry and did great things in the past, not disputing that... but now that he's out of Konami, he is WAY too over celebrated and enjoys the smell of his own farts too much imo.
At least when he was at Konami, poorly treated or not, there was someone around to control things.
For me he's gone off the deep end in terms of being excited for anything he makes. Too artsy fartsy nonsense, there is such a thing as too much freedom given.
Videogames are an own medium and doesnt need to be " more " how hipsters ,that cant complete super marios stage 1-1 and any game tutorial , always try to change gaming into something passive and artsy that is at the end boring , bad and pretentious .
While i like Snatcher and some Metal gear games , i still think that Kojima is either extremly overrated or a hack .
Often times its both lately .
