A hypothetical exercise:
What is your dream game? and which dev studio would you ideally have develop it?

The absolute ideal for me would be a pro wrestling game developed by the Yakuza devs, RGG Studio!

I love the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise, and I love wrestling games. I always thought the Yakuza combat style was very similar to a lot of wrestling games, including the use of weapons and a system where you build a meter to execute a finishing move. The overall theatricality & flashiness of the Yakuza is so much like wrestling too!

I would take a completely original single-player story with an original cast of characters, but my ideal is that it would be a licensed New Japan Pro Wrestling game, featuring its roster from 2012-onwards. So kind of an expansion of the crossover they did for Yakuza 6 & Kiwami 2.

Maybe you would still play as an original character for the story mode, but I'm imagining a full roster of playable wrestlers in exhibition mode. Kinda like the rosters in the old Hajime no Ippo PS2 games!

Kirby 64 Remake/ Sequel with superstar gameplay mechanics with sakurai involvement or Kirby RPG with Mario and luigi Combat system
Yes!
An open world game like GTA or RDR but with giant mechas to pilot/ride and steal,
As for game devs either Namco-Bandai or From Software because they have the experience in making mecha games.
Also Yes!

I would love a proper fighting game based on the Baki series. I know there's the old one on PS2 but it's not that great and I think it's long overdue for that series to get a new game. Not sure who I'd pick to develop it though, I'd say Namco since I think the game would work better as a 3D fighter, but given their recent track record... Not so sure anymore lol.

It does feel like a lot of the licensed Bamco (Bandai Namco) anime games are getting steadily worse

i'd really like for MachineGames to be allowed to make a full new Quake entry after it's been made abundantly clear with each previous entry's anniversary updates that a bunch of their team absolutely loves making classic fps maps and would probably even just do it for free as a pastime. just please god do not use the newest idtech i dont need mandatory ray tracing just make something like that Quake 1 expansion but multiple episodes

A Camelot developed Golden Sun 4 or Shining Force 4 would be nice. :) Maybe get get Yu Suzuki together with the RGG team to make Shenmue 4 and 5.

Diablo III developed by the Diablo I team.
what can i say except aaaaaaaaaaa.jpg

A realistic post-apocalyptic cyberpunk deep open world "choices really matters yo" real-time action RPG that has deep character creation + party creation by even deciding how your companions should look like and all, and also the game can be funny and serious at the right moment. So basically like Fallout New Vegas with the Way of the Samurai 4 humor that can be a little WTF humor like Yakuza Like a Dragon, immersive and content-rich like Witcher 3, has lots of cities and whatnot settlements like GTA San Andreas, has vehicle customization for battle gameplay features like Metal Max 3, legendary quality side quest adventures like The Elders Scrolls Oblivion, has the gameplay variety like Craftopia and realistic cutting system like Metal Gear Rising. Damn this game would be the 9000/10 game of the century!!! I guess CDPR would dare to do it if they had stopped being lazy and stingy. Comparing Witcher 3 with CyberJunk 2077 they really lost the quality so hard but there is no really another developer who could handle such a game idea anymore. ::sadkirby

A game based on World's Strongest Man or Lumberjack Olympics, for the C64 and by Epyx.

Other than that, my dream software is like if you could explore Google Earth in either first or third person, but with the controls of something like Crackdown. Scaling buildings, jumping off super high stuff and not dying, optional driving, etc. I could spend the rest of my life exploring cities I'll never physically go to.

That's partly why I like Yakuza/LAD. I'll likely never actually go to Japan, and it's nice to be able to explore an approximation of various Japanese cities/towns. Also Hawaii with the latest entries.

A buddy of mine went to Japan with the trip's focus being on visiting Yakuza locations. Kind of a cool idea, though I'm not familiar enough with it to know things purely by sight aside from the big sega building on the corner.

A new Halo game by Respawn has a chance of not sucking given how great Titanfall 2 was and still is. This is a legendary franchise that has been absolutely dismantled by 343's incompetence.

I have a whole explanation on this on another (similar) thread.
But imagine RidgeRacer world and racing, C1/TXR-style racing battles and rivals, and persona-style writing/social/party (team) system.
A pipe dream for sure. But shit, it would be cool AF.

And the closest game we have at home:
